Acyclovir ointment

My stmptoms wont go away (ouch) despite valtrex.

Doc gave me ackovir ointment

Does any ine know about this.

Crazy question but, for future reference, could it potentially reduce transmission risk if you applied it before sex

Probably not or we would have heard about it already... Sort of makes some sense though

    The ointment is usually only suggested for primary outbreaks, the cream for recurrent ones. They are for limited external use only and may interfere with the integrity of condoms, which do reduce transmission. Neither the ointment or cream can be used to reduce transmission, only to treat lesions.

      Lol, thanks! Too much free time on my hands at the moment, so I've been fanatically reading everything possible to better understand how to deal with this myself, plus the implications, etc. Figured I may as well extend my knowledge to help others as well. smile Kinda therapeutic!
