How much do you take on an average day? I'm still struggling its so hard. I've just written a taper plan, start with the minimum i think i can manage on per day and reduce it by 1 tablet a week until codiene free. Prolongs some withdrawal symptoms but they wont be as bad, alcohol is a whole other monster, I don't know how I stopped drinking, i think it was a case of one day i just had enough of it, well that and suspected swine flu. All the best, Andy

What dose Cocodamol do you take wendy? Is it prescribed or just over the counter?

Hi Wendy. I've been addicted to prescription co/codomol and Nurofen plus since 2005. Yes it's for pain in my back. I have also been in rehab for alcohol addiction 4 times sine 2001 costing £48k! Also been in hospital a few times after having acute alcohol withdrawal, not to mention diazepam addiction. I've been alcohol free for 18 months now and no looking back. Diazepam I was taking 120 mg a day, now down to 25mg and stayed on that dose for years. Cocodomol 30/500 is a different story. The withdrawals are awful if I try to cut down. I sometimes wonder if I will be free of this drug. I can fully empathise. Why not talk to your Dr about your concerns. I did it through the mental health team who wrote my Dr a letter. And got great help for the diazepam addiction. Alcohol I had to go into a private clinic but there are NHS funded places but with waiting lists, only problem. Hope you get help.
