Adding mirtazapine

hi i wondered if anyone had added mirtazapine to their dose of citalopram. i was on 10mg for 6 weeks, 15mg for 8 weeks and now 20 mg for 3 weeks of citalopram. anxiety and intrusive thoughts still very much there and the doctor suggested either changing to sertaline (which i am really scared to do) or adding mirtazapine to the citalopram. i feel the gps are very quick to want to change meds etc and from what i have read on here it is months not weeks to recover.
