Mary, I had to go on hormone replacement real early due to particial hysterectomy. But it was estrogen. There is no need for progesterone if you have no uterus. I wonder why that combination? Now I am on estrogen and testosterone pellet implants. Works much better than pills, patches, etc.... I was a long time without HRT and was miserable. Absolutely miserable. Anxiety, crying, meanness, anger, and generally felt like a spayed dog. I feel much better now. I would get some answers about why you are taking the stuff you are taking, and see if you feel better. I don't understand the progesterone at all. Hope you feel better soon.

What were your levels at that made you get those ? Your testerone and estrogen and how much test do you take in pellets? I am not on estrogen bc it has not been low and I actually sometimes am estrogen dominant and the prog and test was low supp..they said they cause all of what I was dealing with if they are low...yoi still can need prog without uterus.. many after hyster take it..my thing is since we have no cycle and hormones fluctuate so much how do drs really know they are low when test..bc the normal ranges are always based on where cycle is..i also don't want to take estrogen if I can help it bc dont.want to feed my endo to to come back .. i had lots of yoir same symptoms when I went to get tested and they said my low hormones were causing them..but still struggle even on them ..bc whole.process makes me worry and I don't know how they ever gonna figure out right amounts. Been 8 mo!

They stopped making the implants and I had to go onto patches which were very unsatisfactory in terms of rashes, nuisance factor, and the patches did not last very long, not only glue wise, but estradiol wise. So my dr decided I needed to double the progestogen (because she believed there was no balance). Well, it made my menopause symptoms worse and I was suffering night sweats and face and neck sweats during the day, plus the rest. My belly was getting bigger and bigger, waist disappearing and I was turning into a round ball with legs. This is what happens when oestrogen is lacking. My hair was wrecked, face puffy - you all know about it.
Eventually after lots of reading a few years later of this suffering, I found that too much progestogen makes oestrogen ineffective, and not only that, there is no such thing of having to have balance after surgical menopause.
A professor of gynecology writes that as much estradiol can be used to relieve symptoms of menopause. Some need up to 1200bp?? It may be particular to surgical menopause. My gp used to get into a tizz about blood test results until I showed her the report by this professor. Some drs still believe in mythology and rules according to pre-menopause.
I stopped taking the progestin, my oestrogen started working again (I had moved back to pellets made by a compound chemist) and all is much better - not as perfect as before but more bearable. I had it good until my dr interfered with her ideas.
My hair is now regrowing and thickening up, slowly I am getting a waist back, I hope my belly is reducing, that is taking a while.

HI Mary, I have not discussed this with my Dr., since that would be my case except testoserterone .My previous Dr. Referred me to another Dr.when I was having serious sleep disturbances with a lower dose of estrogen. PCP said it was withdrawal symptoms. So confusing since they want to wein me off of estrogen, am I just supposed to suffer sleep deprivation. I won't take ambien due to bad reputation and melatonin doesn't work.

Hi, Mary,
This is what the nurse sent me when I asked how much of each thing I got. "The amount of Testosterone that was given to you was 137.5 mg and the amount of Estradiol was 12.5 mg. " Also, I had to bget a "boost" implant a couple weeks ago, of estrogen after blood work was done. I do feel better, and got my husband to get the testosterone implants also, and he says he feels better, but I am waiting for more "measurable" results, because to tell you the truth, sex alone is not as much fun as with another person, so hoping he begins to have better results soon. :-)
