Additional drugs to help with tapering.

My Rheumy suggested two drugs to help with tapering under 10 mg. They are colchicine and hydroxychloroquine. Has anyone ever been prescribed either of these? We're they helpful?

What additional drugs would be helpful? Thanks for feedback, still smiling 🙂 and think positive!

I am now down to 9.5mg after 6 years....with a struggle, and the rheumy also wants me off......I haven`t been offered anything else, and wouldn`t take it anyway.....I have told them firmly that now I do it my way.....slowly!.......

Can`t say reading on this forum for the last 5 years that the majority of people are helped with another drug......

    Like you say......keep smiling.....

Thanks linda17563, I am going to try to do a slow DSNS taper. I been tapering using a modified DSNS now a little quicker than I would like. Currently slowing down and will continue to do so till 10 mg, at that point just a 1 mg DSNS taper till 5 mg, then .5 mg for as long as it takes, even if I have to stretch out DSNS longer.

I will not reduce if I have PMR pain.

Thinking positive, with a smile on my face. 🙂

be careful with 1mg steps under 10mg dose. You are exceeding 10% of the dose. I personally use .5mg under 8mg, so it was 10, 9, 8, 7.5, 7.9 , etc

Yes, I thought that myself, agree with Nick.... From 10mg I am lowering .5mg, very slowly and I can still feel it!...you don`t want a flare because of lowering too fast...it`s a tricky beast this PMR thing isn`t it!

Mitch, I can only tolerate 1/4 mg once i was around 10mg and can still notice that with fatigue. I have absolutely no pain. I am starting down to 8.5 this week.

I could not do 8 from 9.  I tried it, and 8 1/2 seems to be right, and I can deal with it.  I will stay there for at least 2 weeks or a month.
