Adenoids in Adults - adenoidectomy

Hi all has anyone had any experience with an adenoidectomy as an adult. I struggle with severe nosebleeds due to a henoch-scholien purpua (HSP) complications and have require 4 units of blood in the last year. I had an ENT appointment today and was not expecting much from it, they were talking about getting transaexic acid on prescription for when it gets really bad, but a consultant I have not met before scoped my nose and said my adenoids are swollen and its constricting my breathing on my right, so he would remove them. I'm having a contrast MRI first to check for big blood vessels in them (he used a fancy word).

I'm curious is there any other adult who have had an adenoidectomy, how long did you wait, were there any side effects?

Hi russell, i had an adenectomy 4 years ago at the age of 58, because of chronic sinuisitis.

I rue the day of this surgery.  That night while trying to get to sleep.  I would start to drop off and then a loud snore would wake me.  This ocurred all night, and Continues to a lesser degree now.

it has been traumatic and sometimes I dread going to sleep at night.

i asked the nurse at the time and was told it will get better over time.

i asked the registrar that performed the surgery and was fobbed off.

i have finally built up the courage to see a ent specialist privateIy am not hopefull as I am told this should not happen, and an adenectomy should resolves snoring.

incidently my chronic sinuisitis is not resolved.

i wish you all the best if you have had the surgery, and hopefully it was the answer for you.
