I had my gallbladder removed at end of April because I had gallstones.

I had bad stomach cramps and pain in my right side.

I was having my main meal in evening and by the time I went to bed I was in pain again every night.

I still hasve to be creful what I aet nothilng too fatty but am certainly better than I was.

If they are offering to take your gallbladder out I would let them do it.

    Hope this helps

Take care and keep in touch

Hi Lorraine, joined this group just so I could reply to you. I was diagnosed with the same condition as you three weeks ago after 18 months of going to different specialists and having numerous scans. Met my consultant surgeon 3 weeks ago and had my gallbladder removed by keyhole surgery on Wednesday. I was in and out of hospital the same afternoon. It is early days so not sure what to expect in the future. I can tell you the post operation pain is getting more bearable. I have to sleep propped up on pillows, I also wake up drenched in sweat but I have been able to eat and drink normally and I have not had the poos. I think most of the pain I have been having is from the gas they use to inflate the ou for the operation and trapped wind. Good luck and I hope everything works out okay for you. I hope for me living without a gallbladder will be a lot less painful and stressful than I had when I had one

Hi Lorraine, the only reason they found my issue was when I went for an ultrasound scan to investigate a cyst on my liver which had shoiwn up when I had a ct scan on the stones in my left kidney. While there I asked if the cyst was causing the constant pain I was having under my ribs on the right side. They scanned my gallbladder and found some abnormalities. From this I had an urgent referral to a liver specialist for an MRI scan and mrpc scan as they could not give a definite diagnosis from the ultra sound results. I also had lots of blood tests and tumour markers done. I waited 8 weeks with no news of the scan results and when I got a telephone call saying I needed an urgent several to a consultant and my appointment was in 2 days time I was crapping myself and fearing the worse. Turns out my consultant was a surgeon, had gallbladder removed 2 weeks after seeing him as they were still not 100% sure what the scan results were showing only that my gallbladder was inflamed and the scan results were abnormal. Had the final diagnosis after I came out of surgery. My surgeon was happy with the operation and does not need to see me again for follow up etc. Before diagnosis I thought I was going mad. Everything on my right side of my body hurt at some point in the last 18 months. Towards the end I had constant pain under ribs on right side, pain in right shoulder, right side of neck, right hip sometimes, pains down my right leg and arm even up over my right eye. Through out all this my gp has been rubbish. The last time I went to see them for an urgent telephone referral to the liver specialist they screwed up the appointment 3 times and I got a lecture on these pains just happen it is part of the aging process and sometimes it is better not to investigate things and then started talking about prostates. My surgeon could not tell me if having my gallbladder removed would solve my pain problems and whether it was the cause of my problems but fingers crossed it will work. What have your pain symptoms been up till now?

Hi Lorraine, sorry to hear you are in a lot of pain, the swelling might be trapped wind. I suffered a lot with it and the pain was excruciating. Don't give up hope of getting better, you might be lucky like me and get a quick operation date. My surgeon told me the same thing about it not maybe curing my problems but figured it could not make them any worse. I am going to venture out today for a walk and get some fresh air. Fingers crossed you start feeling better soon. Please keep me posted on your journey.

hi lorraine. im just finished reading your post as i read most of them and reply if i can help with anything. and i have a lot of the symptoms you have although the pain and burning round my waist and back has gone for now, the thing i'v noticed about the gall bladder problems is that there are so many symptoms that you cant belive its the gall bladder, i have that very very tender to the touch as well although im on pain killers now andit has helped the pain. i'v had the feeling sick and thats eased up for now,i'v had the pains in the right shoulder as that is a very usual pain for the gall bladder its in most of the posts. i was so ill i decided to go private. i'v also got a hernia now.which i only got with stretching up. but when i heard the price of the gall bladder removal its amost 5 thousand and i askedhow much it would be to get the hernia fixed they said it would come to7 thousand. i made those enquieries just before xmas and they said with the xmas holidays it would probably be january i would get it done. well the money was to much for me any way. and to think its NHS doctors that do the private ops.its really terrible. no wonder we have such a wait on the NHS when our doctors are doing private surgery.however i went to the doctors and she gave me really strong pain killers that have really helped, i had such bad pain sitting up that i had to lie down most of the day to get relief. i couldnt bend over even slightly. i couldnt wash my hair.as i couldnt bend down,i even had pains in my arms and eyes but that was before i found out i had gall stones and never put the two of them together until i read some posts that mentioned those symptoms. i wish you well and hope that you get this resolved. let us know how you get on.love cheeky🌺
