Adhesions?

Posted , 4 users are following.

After bowel resection, iliostimy, and reversal last year i ended up back in hospital on wednesday with severe abdomimal pain, with right groin pain. Got home today after many tests . Nothing showed up. I'm having a laparoscopy on Friday to see if its adhesions, nerve entrapment etc. I've got to stay on low residue diet. I'm relieved because i haven't been completely well since the reversal a year ago. Has anyone else had similar problems?

I have had several operations including bowel resection before which the surgeon had to spend an hour dealing with adhesions!

I have had a gall bladder removal since then with the same surgeon but no trouble this time!

Never ending with me, a year's chronic diarrhoea which has more or less confined me to the house and still no diagnosis. Waiting for colonoscopy biopsy results now after two polyps removed. On cancer pathway so a bit scared.

hope you feel better soon and find out what is wrong. Laparotomies are such an improvement on the old carve ups of our bodies.

    good luck x

Thank you for the reply. It will be interesting to see what the surgeon finds, given my severe pain earlier in the week. I have deftnitely not been well for months now. I hope your polyps come back negative. People don't realise how lucky they are when they have heathy working bowels. Thanks again for the info.

I'm currently going through laser surgery to try and break up the adhesions from my open cut sigmoid colectomy 18 months ago. My insurance wants to go the holistic route before doing what Rhianna is going through now.

I'm terrified of eating anything that brings the pain back. Friday can't come quick enough for me, i want him to fix whatever it is. I'm on a low residue diet, but I'm anxious about eating anything at all.

I found out anxiety comes with this disease, trying to figure out what you can eat plays a big part. Even after surgery we still have to be careful, although I have been able to eat a better, healthier diet than before. Let me know how it goes. So far my laser surgery is working, but did have to limit it to once a week cuz afterwards I have swelling and very sore. I have 7 more treatments. I've noticed (other than the surgery soreness) the areas that were extremely sensitive are fading away. Take care and get better.

Thank you Glenda. Funny thing is, i always ate healthy foods. And I'm a vegetarian. At the moment fibre is my enemy. I'm hoping this all gets fixed. It's been going on for 2 years now.

From what I understood from my doctor, the disease is still somewhat a mystery as to what actually causes it and the best way to treat it. Alot has to do with that everyone is different, so they should treat it on a one by one basis. I know stress is my number one culprit. As for foods I'm still trying to figure it out. I still have diarrhea, thinking it will always be that way. Mornings suck for me. I used to be a morning person, not anymore. I have to take my dang allergy meds, probiotics, vitamins, and Milk of magnesium (otherwise I get constipated). Before I can go anywhere in the morning I have to go to the bathroom. After that I'm good.

It sure is a mystery. My surgeon has booked me for an exploratory laparoscopy next wednesday and will take my appendix out. He will look for adhesions nerve entrapment and hernias also. I have constant groin pain now. Some days worse than others. Apparently you can have chronic appendicitis, and he said given all of my surgeries, it's a possibility. So many unknowns with this disease! I too feel lousy in the mornings. Have done since the reversal for some reason. I hope i get some answers next week. Thanks for the support. Much appreciated.
