Adhesions

I am currently experiencing pelvic pain and the doctor has said it may be adhesions. Scans and blood tests are to follow soon to make sure nothing else is going on.

Has anyone here had adhesions removed? How successful is the operation?

    Hello

i experienced pelvic pain for a long time and finally had a laparoscopy where they released several adhesions. It seems to have done the trick. It took me about 2 weeks to recover.  This was over a year ago. Various parts of me were attached to my bowel and my Fallopian tube and ovary had become entwined in adhesions so I had this removed too. I do know that they can return but fingers crossed they won't.

Were you in & out of hospital the same day? Ater having your ovary removed, had you had menopausal symptoms?

    Hi

i was in hospital for 4 days. My menopause symptoms started really kicking in when I was aged 50. I had a hysterectomy that year as I had Adenomyosis. So after the hysterectomy my hormones went wild. I'm on estrogen HRT and have no intention of coming off of it ever!

Gosh, your history sounds very much like mine. All following hysterectomy. Mine was unfortunately complicated by pelvic abscesses which I had to have drained hence longer stay and recovery. I ended up in the end having a laparotomy a month after laparoscopy as everything had become so inflamed and a big abscess had developed. Then I was in just over a week but it took about 3.5 months before I could return to work. It really knocked me for six! Don't  worry Amanda, mine was all complicated by the abscesses which I have been told are very unusual and you would certainly know if you had one of those. Hope you get everything sorted soon.
