Hi - sorry you're suffering - I got chicken pox 4 years ago at age 38 - I thought I was going to die. It affects adults much more than children - my 2 had it at the same time and they were fine. If you are still feeling no better in a couple of days, send for the GP anyway - they should check your breathing etc, as it can turn into pneumonia in adults but it is rare - hope you feel well again soon.

Hang on in there - it's a crap experience as I have just been through the worst of it earlier this week. I'm 34 and came out in around 500 spots and blisters with a temp of 103F. I am still in isolation but fever is gone and itching also largely gone - try Eurax cream for itching (crotamiton)- it is really good, and Piriton tablets (anti-histamines) which might also make you drowsy and help you sleep which is the best thing you can do right now.

For the fever I found that paracetemol was best, cold flannels and lukewarm baths with a tablespoon of baking soda in it for the rash. Cool showers were particularly welcome but be careful its not too cold while you have a fever or it might be too much of a shock. Also don't be tempted to cuddle up in loads of duvet - put a light soft blanket on your bed and get someone to change your bedding regularly (and your night clothes) - this will help you stay cool.

You poor thing - I know how horrible this is for adults - I hope you are feeling better soon but if you have a fever of 103F plus for more than a couple of days you should speak to your doc.

Hope you are feeling better; I just came down with them yesterday and I am 28 years old. My child contracted shingles as she had already had chicken pox and spread it to me who has never had them. I now have them all over body and in my mouth and ears, the itching isnt to bad yet but the flue like symptoms are the worst hot and cold flashes, cant sleep and terrable stomach pain. I hope this goes away soon and I hope that your is now better but there is nothing wrong with you getting them at this age Dr. assured me of that.
