Anyone here have CMV Mono as an adult? Was diagnosed and trying to figure this all out. If you have a current CMV or have had CMV as an adult, can you tell me your experience please? Than you.

You mentioned your labs still show active virus in your system. Would you mind sharing which labs you checked and their values?
My most recent labs show the following:
IgG positive
IgM positive
CMV PCR pending
ALT (liver enzyme test) elevate to 94 (2 weeks ago it was 74)
My recent symptoms:
Intermittent chills
Intermittent skin feeling hot
Slight constant nausea now - has anyone else felt nauseous during the course of this virus?
Thinking of you and I hope we beat this CMV soon.

Hi Sam,
How are you doing? Yes regarding the constant nausea, was very strong the first four months for me. I mostly lived off of yoghurt.
Well, I’m on my second round of antibiotics for a very bad sinus infection. Still seem to also have the same cold too... I feel like I have full blown CMV on top of all of this. EXTREME fatigue, some days I can hardly move around, and I am a VERY active person. I have the nasty sore throat again. Chills, fever, usual CMV symptoms.
I can not imagine having the flu with CMV. Hopefully none of us find out..
Boy, I have been taking about 4K mg of vitamin c, daily since I found out I had CMV, also probiotics. Not sure there is much else we can do aside from hand washing and vitamins..
The labs were positive for CMV, that is all they tested me for.
"CMV Antibody, IgM Positive. As of 9/10/2018"
PS. I wanted to mention that stress seems to REALLY aggravate the CMV, at least for me. I have removed myself from any stressful situation/person in my life for a while. I was actually reading that we are not supposed to stress. Be careful with that.

Definitely Jen you're being wise removing yourself from stress as much as possible, there is a definite link I found that too whilst I was unwell with it. I know it's an oxymoron saying to remove stress when going through this considering the worry and symptoms of the virus itself cause so much stress in itself, it's really hard.
But taking yourself out of work situations, away from people who demand or expect too much of you, away from people who don't understand or try to judge or criticise, for sure it can help if you are able to do that, and just take a back step and take it slower for a while, knowing that with time you will get better and recover.
Thinking about you too Sam, I know you guys have been through such a hard time lately and still rooting for you and believing that God is working on your situation right now and wants you to know He hasn't forgotten and knows what's going on and is going to come through for you.

I also take lots of vitamins. I would recommend adding zinc to your regiment. Zinc helps your lymphocytes which are the white cells responsible for fighting viruses. I’ve also started juicing like you. I’ve noticed watermelon really help me - I don’t know how much I just feel better after having it.
I’m with you on the stress. I’ve removed myself from all types of stressful situation and people too. At times I feel bad because I feel like I’m neglecting situations and people, but I know I need to get better.
I’ll check in with you next week. Let me know if you try the zinc and it works for you. Word of caution about zinc - it has a strong nausea effect so I would have it with a meal.
Stay in touch CMV buddy

Are you being looked after with your back by a good doctor? I am sending you good thoughts for a speedy recovery. It makes anyone feel fragile when we are in pain, I promise it will pass. You hang in there and we are here if you need us. You have always been so kind, it’s the least I can do. Feel better very soon.

Thank you so much Sam, Kay and Jen.
I've really hit a rock bottom this week, had new sciatic pain down my leg and have just been overwhelmed, my confidence has drained and just been in bed most of the time. Sorry if I'm not able to post as much on the forums at the moment, just been crying all the time and losing hope with my own pain and not sure how I'm going to cope.
Please if anyone is kind enough if they could say a prayer for me, to ask God to help me at this time and stabilise me again and get me able to be doing things again. I'm so grateful for everyone's supporting and thinking about you all.

Thank you for your kind words Jen, I really have been struggling this week it's been one of the hardest I've ever had. It just seems that when something like this hits me my confidence drains and all of a sudden I can't seem to keep my routine or get up or motivate myself to do anything. I am going to see a doctor this afternoon I hope they can help but just struggling with my hope at the moment, I know there is always hope because of God so clinging on to that right now.
Thank you so much for praying for me Jen. I will pray for you too, I'm sorry I've been so down at the moment just feeling overwhelmed and in a difficult time, hoping somehow with God's strength there can be better days for us ahead.

Not very well Jen, thank you for asking. Have had a terrible week with pain. Sciatica has really frightened me and bothered me, but I've also last few days started getting an awful sharp pain in my ribs, went to hospital and they said it was something called costochrondititis, some kind of inflammation in ribs but it's so painful feels like being stabbed all the time and struggling to get a comfortable position. What's frightened me is reading some things about it where it says it can be long lasting or take a good while to heal, that kind of thing really terrifies me right now just in a low and dark place.
I'm sorry for offloading like that Jen, just feeling quite desperate right now and not knowing how I'm going to cope. Any prayers for me would be greatly appreciated, and I do hope and pray you are okay too and still thinking about you and hope I can be in a better place soon to come back on the forums and chat with others.

I’m sooooo sorry about what’s going on with you. I haven’t had chance to be on the forum so I didn’t know. You are in my prayers! I’ve had costochrondititis before and it’s super painful, especially with every breath. Luckily it’s self limiting. Get rest bud! Thinking of you.

These forums are just for this, to talk to others, please don’t apologize, we are all concerned. Was just reading about the condition, did the doc put you on some anti-inflamatoiries? Also, look into “anti-inflammatory diet too please. (I have an inflammation issue too, so I understand.) I do very much hope you feel better soon! Take good care, Craig. PS. Try to sit in the sunshine for a few moments tomorrow. A little sun can work wonders, if not on our bodies, but our minds when ill. Check in with you soon.

Hi Craig,
Please hang in there, you will get better.
My daughter (age 19) and I were both diagnosed with Mono in early August. She recovered very fast, but kept having horrible pain in her left lower rib area. Had a CT and everything was normal. Returned to her Primary and found out that she has COSTOCONDRITIS!!!
Her doc injected a steroid with lidocaine(?) into that area and after 3 days she is pain free. This might be something you might want to look into. Very few Primary docs are trained in these injection most of the time a "pain specialist" will do them.
Have you tried any type of relaxation techniques or meditation for your sciatica?
Best,
Leslie

I’ve just done an update of my progress, and it really is a case of two steps forward and one back with this virus. My husband and son have had a really nasty cough/cold and amazingly I didn’t catch it! But a couple of months ago I had to take antibiotics for an infected cyst. I know there were times this past year where I really thought I was dying and the doctors just hadn’t picked up what it was as I was just so weak and in so much pain. My mum, brother and sister all died from cancer and I was thinking “is it my turn now” but as I said in my update I am improving - I just wish it was a bit quicker lol. The Colloidal silver and olive leaf extract are good for tackling respiratory problems, so you might want to try that and my turn around was when I started the Monolaurin and Celebrex in July (I started both about two weeks apart, so I’m not sure which one, if not both helped), so that’s another thing you might want to try. I really hope and pray that you have a turn around too Jen and that we will all be better and stronger once we’ve fought this beast back into submission

re the sciatica, I found if I squatted against a wall with a tennis ball between me and the wall and moved so that the ball massaged my back, that it would help as would remedial massage. For some reason, physio always made it worse for my sciatica and cervical issues.
A positive, if you can call it that, is that my back has been so much better this year, probably due to the fact that I’ve had to rest whether I liked it or not! If you ever get to the point of surgery, look into ADR the outcome is so much better than fusion etc.

Thanks Jen, I think you're awesome. Yes taking a few anti-inflammatory herbs and at various times Naproxen / Ibuprofen too. Thanks so much for the kind words, means a lot right now! Just a bit weary with stuff right now, a combination of circumstances over a period, it just takes its toll as I know you know too well Jen from what you're going through too.
Still thinking about you and rooting for you Jen - I believe you are going to get better and that better days are ahead for everyone on the site.

Thanks Leslie, what can I say you are just wonderful taking the time to offer me such kind and supportive words. Just everything getting on top of me a bit right now, just need to gather some strength to find a way through. Trying all sorts of treatments for various things, have been lucky to be able to do that and have supportive people around me too.
I'm glad your daughter has made a good recovery from mono and managed to get that steroid injection. It's something I would certainly consider if things don't settle down, it's just with the medical system in the UK it's like trying to jump through hoops to get anything or anywhere.
I'm hoping you are doing okay Leslie, still thinking about you and remember things do get better with mono, it just takes a little time with it sometimes unfortunately - you're still in that stage of your body just trying to get this thing under some sort of control, but I promise you Leslie it does go away and does get better with time - hang in there too and best wishes to you and your daughter.

Hi Amanda,
Thanks so much for the kind and supportive words, you are just wonderful. I'm glad your back is doing better this year, sciatica is an awful thing it really is, so frightening when pain is bad too I know. Thanks for the tips and advice too with the tennis ball, always looking for tips and things that help people.
Oh I'm so grateful for your prayers Amanda - I really am need them right now as just a bit overwhelmed. Trusting God that we will all get there through our own individual trials right now with His help. Praying for you too Amanda, believing God has an amazingly bright and prosperous future ahead for you - I have a strong sense of that.

Hi Amanda,
Just trying to take in what you have been through when you talk about your mum, brother and sister - I can only imagine the suffering and pain you and your family have been through and and just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you and still believe you're going to get FULLY better from this horrible virus and will be in good health again.
Keeping you in thoughts and prayers right now, and thanks again for taking the time to offer me words of encouragement right now it means so much.
