Adult Scoliosis

Hi, I'm 64 and only realised I had a scoliosis 4 years ago, despite being in much pain for years before.  Gp thought it was arthritis. Just been to see a specialist spinal centre, after MRI and CT and X-rays. He says he would do the op, it's certainly serious enough, but, and quite rightly, has pointed out that it could possibly make things worse. I am finding my world getting smaller and smaller and my pleasure in things greatly diminished because of the pain.  What have others done, and what was the outcome?  We left it that I'd be called back to see him in 9 months, and see if a) I can do some stretching exercises to strengthen my core muscles, (am so off balance) and b) if I have come to a decision whether or not to have surgery.

Any advice for me please?   Tia x

Are you going to have it? Are you healthy and fit?

I was hoping for some feedback of others experience. I'm still gathering information and assessing how I feel.

      I'm in no rush.

    Hi,

I am 73 and am scheduled for scoliosis surgery on February 6. I have been in severe pain for 2 years and have been through every conservative treatment. Ive done extensive PT, epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, trigger PT injections, dry needling etc. and nothing has helped my pain. Oh I would have a few days here and there that weren't too bad and I would think that maybe something was starting to work. But here I still am not able to sit for more than 10 minutes and can't be up on my feet for more than an hour or two.  I am going to have the surgery and hope for the best.  Good luck to you whatever you do.

    Cheryl
