Can a doctor  gp charge a fee to sign living will form ?

    If he or she is your regular doctor they would do it as a courtesy for a patient. If not, they would be entitled to charge a visit fee.

    A doctor can charge for their signature. That could include a living Will. The normal charge is around ten to fifteen pounds sterling, but I am sure it varies and as lester said they may do it for free. I have prescription drugs I pay for privately as NICE have not agreed to them for my illness, probably because of the cost according to my GP.  My GP could ask for her signature on my prescriptions if she wanted to, luckily she does it for free.

    Yes,they certainly can. Its not part of their remit and is classed as Private work. Some GPs may do it for nothing if they are feeling charitable but  not all of them.

    Your GP can charge for any work that is not considered part of their regular workload as a doctor providing medical care. The witness to your advance decision/living will does not have to be a doctor, meaning that it is not part of a doctor's regular work. You must ask your GP what his/her policy is on this specific matter.

      I think Claire is talking about the optional GP Declaration rather than them being a witness.
