    Hi Mike

    I had PSA 7, Gleeson 7, staging T3b 2.5 years ago. I am 73.

Went the Hormone, RT route, with good results, except for ongoing weight gain, and night sweats.

My only suggestion is to keep up with all treatments. I am now off medication with yearly monitoring with oncologist.

    Hi Mike

My prognosis was exactly the same as yours. (Gleason 4 + 5, PSA 27)

9 months of monthly hormone injections (Prostap) My PSA is down to .75 and 2 days ago my onchologist said , and I quote, "No resason you shouldn't stop long term planning, everything is excellent"!!

so chin up, if you feel fine you most likely are.

As someone said to me, 'You'll most likeky die with the cancer rather than from it'!

No plans to check out yet!!

    Hi Mike

After a PSA of 16, biopsies and Gleason 9 (4+5), I had a radical prostatectomy by means of robotic surgery (Da Vinci). After some 6 weeks, PSA was checked and found to be 0.42. Another 6 weeks later it had increased to 1.34. I am now on hormone (testosterone depressant) treatment (TEVA BICALUTAMIDE 150, one pill daily) without any noticable side effects so far. Due to have PSA checked again at end of February. Am hoping that the increasing trend will have been reversed. Will let you know.

Would be interested in how your PSA has developed and is developing.

    Good luck

    Hi Mike,

my dad  was treated with hormone injections every 4 months. He did very well on this treatment and lived for going on 18 years after diagnosis. At the start of his treatment he was 69 yrs. He may well have still been with us but for getting pnemonia after a fall.

Wish you well and hope that this treatment gives you many years yet.

    Regards, Phil.

Very pleasing to hear someone lived so long just on hormone treatment alone. I' m getting a pneumatic injection soon, so let's hope I'm as lucky as your Dad.          Washie

Hi Phil, it was so encouraging for me to read your post regarding your Dad. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer last August, it has also spread to my bones. I have been on Prostap for  the last six months, my psa has dropped from 34 to 1.06, no more appointments for 6 months. I was wondering what happens next i.e. do I stay on

Prostap for the rest of my life? providing my psa remains low

       Kind Regards Arthur

      Hi Arthur,

sorry i dont know enough to say what comes next for you in terms of your treatment.

Despite what many say if you live in the UK you will get top class treatment from the many specialist cancer treatment centres we have.

If you are being treated at a local, hospital you can ask to be refered to a specialist centre, the one near to where I live is the Christie at Manchester.

Again I hope your PSA stays low and you feel well.

      Kindest regards

      Philip.

      Hi washie,

I to hope you do as well as my dad. He had a poor health cenario for most of his life TB in the 50s , Tumours in his arms and spinal surgery in the 60s  and heart disease in the 70s. Dad always had faith in his doctor and always followed their advice and kept a positive attitude which I think helped him a lot.

Hope you are as lucky as dad and do well on your treatment

      Kind regards

      Philip.

PSA now 4.7  good news . Only saw nurse on Friday with news. What the nurse could not tell me was what happens when Zoladex fails and PSA starts to go up. Urologist seems to be very busy so would obviously ask him if I could get to him!    In meantime can anybody help with future drug names etc?      Washie
