Advascular Necrosis?!?!

Hi, so I had s.c.f.e when I was like 11, and had to get 2 pins in my hips. That was easy... I was in so much pain before the surgery after I felt like I could run a mile (not really). I was fine healing perfectly, until then I went off the crutches and people started to notice I was limping more. Ut-oh I soon went back to the Dr. and he said I have something called A.VN where the vein broke to the top of my femor causing the bone to deteriorate. This is probs gonna give me arthritis, and I have to get a hip replacement. I'm a bit scared but I think it will be good, and allow me to do things I can't do now. I don't have to much pain, but it does get worse during colder months. I go to p.t every Tuesday for an hour, and that helps A TON. Working on trying to get me to be able to run, however it's hard. Oh I also have a limp that is very annoying, my little waddle I like to call it. Well, if anyone has a similar story I would love to hear it!

Happy Holidays

Thanks 💗🎄

Ava how long ago was that?  My son had SCFE when he was 15.  He got no followup help getting fit, so he did it himself.  He is now, 15 years later, a fantastic personal traiiner, who has figured out for himself how to stay fit with this condition and train without causing damage and strain to the rest of his body.  We found no physios or regular trainers seem to know how to advise  properly, treating him as if he didn't have the restriction in his hip that  he has.

Hi, well I still currently have Avn, I had the SCFE about 3-4 years ago, and they fixed it with pins. You do have to be careful about restrictions when you have Avn. Does he have AVN? If he doesn't I don't think there are many things that you can do to hurt your hip... once the hip is healed. I personally can't do any high impact stuff as in running or jumping. I also can't sit criss-cross. It does really suck, all my teachers think I am fine, and that there is nothing wrong since I look "normal", however, I can't sit on the floor, but they think I can.
