    Hi

that sounds awful. I had mine 3 months ago too but my hrt is working wonders. Have you tried anything herbal?  My mum had breast cancer and died at 55 but I have an oestrogen only hrt which is less risk.

I have a pouch over my scar too but start Pilates next week so I'm hoping to tone up my belly. I also have swelling but I think that could last for up to 6 months so please don't be too hard on yourself

    Hi belper2012

I am nearly 4weeks post op after TAH. I joined this site as there is some really helpfull advice from the ladies on here and much appreciated as we are kind of left in the dark on recovery but I suppose each person is different.

I too decided not to use hrt as im getting married in september and I heard it causes weight gain so I am fearful to use it. I went the herbal route been taking it 3 weeks now as had both ovaries removed. Ive been taking black cohosh 6.5mg one a day tablet and I find that works for me,keeps the hot flashes under control and also eased my weepiness. I also took red clover to but that was 3x a day and got fed up of constantly popping tablets along with pain releif so just stuck to the black cohosh but you can take all together.my tummy is hard and beneath and around wound and apparently takes a long time to settle down.I also use support knickers up to the waist and they feel great on. cant wait to start palates and yogo once I get the ok from my gyny at the end of this month.hope this info helps you and your recovery

Hi, After having my hysterectomy a few months ago and discovering I had cancer, I'm unable to take any hormone replacements due to the type of cancer I have. My doctor put me on an anti-depressant called Effexor which helps with both the depression and hot flashes. I felt the same way and this medication has helped me a lot! Good Luck to you, Erin
