Hi Sadie ,thanks . Can I ask what doses you're on ?  And did you have any side effects when you began taking them?  Do you work full time?

Im currently off sick and really worried I'll never get back ...I want to . I love my job but had so many problems with anxiety about the pain I couldn't continue, until I get sorted .

i'm currently on propranolol for anxiety, amitriptyline & prescription co-codamol for fibro.

I had no side effects from the propranolol apart from the first couple of pills that made me feel a bit woosy but i was prepared for it so didn't freak me out.. i had side effects from the amitriptyline for a few weeks but only in the form of a little bit loser stools but then the co-codamol balanced that out cos that can constipate you.. so all in all i'm pretty balanced now..

Hope you get a combination that suits you.. just remember that just because i got those side effects it doesn't mean you will.. you might not get any at all..

try not to worry and just work with your GP to get a combination YOU are happy with.. i went through 4 different anxiety meds before settling on propranolol due to side effect.. just make sure you don't panic if you do get a side effect. they will ware off after your body gets used to them.

    take care.

Thanks Gill, how much amitryptilene are you taking ? ...I took a 10mg once and it totally knocked me out! Are you able to live a relatively normal life ? I'm so worried about not getting better than I am now .

I take 20mg at night before bed so making knocking you out isn't a problem. I started out on 10mg for 2 weeks and then went up to the 20mg. Personally I've had to adapt my life as my symptoms are pretty much daily and i pass out if i over do it so i can no longer work or go out with friends etc but fibro is different for everyone. Once you get everything sorted you will find your own way. Just do what you can when you can and don't rush yourself. Give yourself time. X

Start out slowly on meds and work you way up to a higher dose. If you do well that may well be a answer for you not suffering from side, effects.
