Advice and support on my sons tics

Hi I'm new to all this, my 13 year old son has been having tics, started with blinking eyes then shrugging shoulders, sniffing now shaking his head. Worse than ever he is so down and don't want to go to school, I don't know what to do for the best, this has been going on over a year he has been refered but not yet seen anybody, just looking for advice and support! How can I help him? His loosing his confidence and self esteem very quickly sad

    Hi Kate,

    So sorry to hear about your son's story. Have you taken him to make any examinations? I think the first step is to find out the reason for his tics. Then you will have a clue on how to deal with it.

      Thanks he has been to the doctors I am waiting on a referral for a specialist, have been told this could the a while though

    Waiting is the harest part, you could always give the hospital a call and ask if it can be bought forward.  

    That's all I can advise, lot of help I am !! But I wish your son all the best.

    Hello Kate, sorry to hear about your sob.s condition.  If you are having to wait such a long time fir a referral to a specialist might I suggest that it might help to take him privately if your finances permit.  Alternatively you could go crack to your grand tell him you've been waiting for over a year and as your dogs condition is worsening tell him you need an urgent referral. Mir factors want to they can but they gave to request thus urgently.  Good lyck
