Advice for coping with side effects of endo meds

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about my endo.

Since I was 12 I have been having trouble with endo (I tried 6 versions of the pill but none worked) and at the start of last year I had a 5 hour surgery to remove the endo and a mirena put in.

I found the mirena did not help and I continued to have severe irregular bleeding and right ovarian pain. April this year I had the mirena removed. One month later I had severe bleeding where I went through a pad every hour. I am a university student and had to miss a week to cope. After this I started on Brevinor 1. Brevinor 1 does stop the bleeding, however, it makes me sick. I vomit three nights a week, nausea, I have lost my appetite and I don't feel like myself anymore (maybe slightly depressed). I have tried anti nausea medication but the medication gives me headaches. I don't want to be taking medication to "fix" the side effects of another. I would like to find an alternative to brevinor 1 to stop feeling like this.

Does anyone have any suggestions of something I can replace brevinor 1 with or a natural way to overcome the side effects? Many thanks for your help.

    Hi Olivia

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Have you talked to an endo specialist? This must be overwhelming.I was in law school when my endo went nuts, supporting myself with 1 - 3 jobs throughout & sometimes lying down on a cold floor was my only pain relief. You, however, have all these side effects from various treatments.

Except it's possible that the gastro effects aren't side effects but instead symptoms of endo. Nause & vomiting are not as simple as i thought. One time when i couldn't remember the name "ondansetron," a great anti-nausea/vomiting pill which is best in the teensy tablet that melts on your tongue, i googled & hit a cancer site. It talked about a number of different causes for vomiting which require different kinds of treatment. Some of that is cancer treatment specific but a lot of it isn't. Might not hurt to look. I love ondansetron but no one in the States will put you on it on a regular basis unless you're at death's door: too addictive, plus it can cause serious constipation with daily use.

Talk to your doctor & ask if s/he is certain that the nausea/vomiting isn't a new symptom. If that doesn't work, there are alternative treatments including the green plant we can't mention here and its oil.

As to depression: for many years i've used the Alive multivitamins for women in various formulations for about 8 yrs. One commonality is that they don't have enough calcium and magnesium for me. I've dealt with osteoporosis since my late 30s so i take extra calcium & magnesium, 400 mg of the latter. In that time period i've suffered less from depression than in all preceding decades, and i haven't become depressed this year despite losing the 2 most important men in my life, 1 my sig. other, 10 days apart. Then this week i saw an article talking about magnesium as treatment for depression! 248mg daily. If course that might cause loose bowels, in which case take some (constipating) calcium.
