Advice for hot weather and exercising

Posted , 2 users are following.

I follow a low sodium diet and my symptoms are well controlled. When I'm in a hot climate or sweat from exercise, however, I sometimes get quite shaky and begin to feel faint or dizzy. I attribute this to maybe not adjusting to get enough sodium in these situations. Does anyone else experience this? Thoughts or advice?

Hi Eliza. When I first cut down on sodium I thought I might experience side affects as I play a lot of sport but it didn’t happen fortunately. Maybe there is another reason for your symptoms. I take a multi vitamin and mineral every day and betahistine. I’m in U.K. so don’t have to worry too much about heat. Perhaps you should ask for a blood test just to make sure there’s nothing else going on. One of the most frustrating things about Meniere’s is trying to pin down causes of symptoms as it takes time for changes in lifestyle to have an effect.

Thank you! Good advice. I'm always quick to attribute things to MD, but I suppose it's not the root of everything.
