Advice from anyone regarding pain

Had TKR 3 weeks ago followed by a knee brace to stop my knee bending due to bleeding partly caused by blood thinners. Had a PECO fitted for just over a week and got rid of everything last Tuesday. Doing well walking and doing little jobs around the place.

Problem is pain right down left side of left knee which I am putting down to trauma, but struggling to do exercises as everything seems very stiff, but I can get the back of my leg down straight and touch the inside of my leg when flat on the bed. After exercises I get feelings of electric shocks on my knee and don't know what to do, they can go on for 15 mins and start up again 2 hours later. Any advice please.

Considering your only 3 weeks out even though the pain stinks your still only 3 weeks out. You will be sore for a good while. If everything goes well each month that goes by you should feel a little better. If your still concerned by all means call your doctor.

Hi David , yes pain is quite normal i am 3 months post TKR and having pain ,I cannot bend my knee as yet ,going to see specialist next week .I have been told by various groups that swelling and complete pain free apart from a little pain depending on what you are doing can take up to a year ,it's a major operation with a long and slow recovery ,so don't be tempted to rush about doing things too soon it will only put you back slowly slowly catchy monkey 🐵 .

With the pain from the knee before, you do think a new knee will get rid of it all, but as you say time is a wonderful thing. Just got notification I will get my Prostate out on 1st May, so all pain will get jumbled up for a little while after that, and then I will be a new man, well maybe !.

    Hi David.

If you have had possibly a scope then the TKR your chances of a good recovery are great!!. The pain will continue to improve till you reach the one year mark after that it is what it is. There are lots of people that do great some don't ( I am one ). some do not like this but if your in pain try putting ice on it to me its been a godsend. You sound like me with the prostrate I just had a blockage no cancer so yeah you could be a new man. I told my last surgeon he forgot one thing I said years ago there was a TV show called 6 million dollar man and he did not put something in my knee that would play that theme song every time the main character went into action.
