Advice: Gastric Band In Europe..

Posted , 1 user is following.

Be aware that if a Gastric Band or Balloon or Bypass procedure is done abroad which is cheaper.. Like Belgium where I know a lot of people go for Plastic Surgery... if anything goes wrong you have no legal redress with theses Companies who provide the Surgery. This is only covered by English law if you have it done in England.. Scottish Law is separate too..as well as European. Also make sure any Surgeon is British GMC (General Medical Council) Registered in Britain and obtain their Registered Number, and research first.

also if anything goes wrong and you have to return to that country then that is extra expense for flights etc  and poss longer time off work for travelling etc. however, for some it is the only way they can afford the private surgery if they do not qualify on the nHS or do not want to jump thru all the NHS hoops

sadly for some people they are prepared to take that risk cos they are desarate to lose wgt and think it 'will never happen to me' - i think if you have an emergency the NHS would have to treat you - I mean they would not let you die for the want of an infected wound or a slipped band
