Advice/help please!!!

Hi,

Been on citalopram for about 13 years. Usually 10 or 20mg. My anxiety/panic has been up and down since August. Have tried 30mg about 6 weeks ago but made it worse so been down on 25mg for roughly 2 weeks. I'm feeling dreadful since 2 days. I feel like everything is too much and like I'm supposed to have panic attacks but I'm not completely having them. It's like the physical symptoms aren't there but the mental ones are. I'm so aware that I'm not well that I want to scream, it feels so intense. Why am I feeling this way? So scary!!! I wanna be well for Christmas and our 2 weeks holiday approaching. Right now if I even think about those events I'm totally panicking and feeling mad to feel this wAy! How can it be possible that 30mg or 25ng can make such a difference? Shall I go down in 20mg again? Please help!!! I'm struggling to go through the day so insane and unwell I feel. Anyone out there feeling it felt the same? How and what can I do to deal with it right now?? Thank you x

Hi there ..it seems the increase is to blame..yes even small increases can have a bad/ good effect..if I were you Id go back to 20 mg and see your doctor ..explain how you are dreading your holiday instead of looking forward to it..ask him if he can give you something short term to get over the distress that the increase in dosage has caused you

Please let me know how you get on

      Hi Lynne,

Yes I do too! It's just so horrid! Although I have to say I do not worry too much about my heart racing... It's all the intrusive thoughts and the fact that I am so aware that I feel unwell and unhappy about it all. I feel like I'm on a count down as I want to be well especially for our holiday!! X

      HI Babette

I wanted to asure you that I've just been put on citalopram and so far so good but hearing all these things and they sound just like coming off Valium which was a ride from hell.  Those intrusive bad thoughts all the time and when something is mentioned about your holiday or xmas you panic even more I got all that and more.  Have you ever been on Valium before? If not I agree with Pat go to your Doc an tell him exactly how you feel he may give you something to calm you till you come back in the new Year, Go and express yourself it can only help you need to enjoy your holiday.  All the very best believe you I no how you feel.

      Hi Pat,

I've been on Sertaline and thought it was ok but my Doc wanted to try me on this citalopram, that I now see lots of people on  every where.  Its a Anti depressant and I've never had a problem with them before can always just come off, no side effects.  He changed my valium to Clonazepam which is a little stronger and im on a faily low dose.  Have you been on citalopram? if so how did you feel on it.

I cant believe how many people are now on this drug I'd never neard of it before.  I would think i should stay on sertaline as dont no if it really worked but it didnt make me feel bad, Thanks Pat any help would help.

      Nicola  xx

Hi ..how strange ..I have just weaned myself off Citalopram ..took a year!!..it's a vile pill IMO...tho lots of people are ok on it..the majority on these boards are having terrible times on it..you csnt just stop it..you have to slowly wean yourself off like zi did ..took my last pill 9 weeks ago and had withdrawal anxiety and irritability for a month after..I'm ok now

i don't recommend it...but the decision is yours ..if it suits you fine..just be aware that you can't just come off it..it's dangerous

Thank you Nicola. No I have never been on Valium, I'm too scared to take anything like this or diazepam. Went to see the doc this afternoon and we decided to keep a big longer with the cit 25mg and increased propanolol to 2 tablets a day. If not better in a few weeks then he said I should try cit 40mg. Really not keen... Just hoping that 25mg will start to help soon and before we go as the last couple of days have been horrid and everything feels too much and scary sad

Anyway, only time will tell I guess.. I hope ur feeling ok x
