Advice much needed

Hey everyone. I feel somewhat relieved reading all of your posts as I don't feel alone in this.

My symptoms started 3 years ago. I got divorced, I had to take antibiotics after removing my wisdom tooth and then developed bronchitis.

Since then, I've had Poop that has had both blood and mucus on the surface. Fair amount. I have no pain, I don't rush to the bathroom and I'm not losing any weight. I am physically active and for the most part eat a healthy/balanced diet.   I have been diagnosed by 2 docs that I have internal/thrombosed hemmorhoids. I have a flex coming up next wed. IM SO SCARED. I need advice. Anyone with similar story to this?

Hi Rebecca. I've had similar symptoms to you for just over a year . I too was diagnosed initially with hemmoroids. I had a sigmoidoscopy last november and was told they thought i had proctitis but was to wait for the biopsy results which came back normal . I was basically told to live with it . Ive pushed to see a colorectal specialist who I saw last week who says I do have hemmoroids but also a slight prolase but i was a little inflamed so I have to have another sigmoidoscopy in a few weeks . Please don't worry about the flex its not that bad .a little uncomfortable at times but it's over fairly soon . Let me know how you get on

I was too the first time not knowing what to expect was awful. There was only once I had a little discomfort during mine which was only for a few seconds . You should have a nurse sat with you during . Mine sat chatting to me but to be honest all I wanted to do was watch the screen to see what was going on . Have you been told to follow a low fibre diet beforehand ?

Nope. But I want them to get a good look inside so I will prob just have soup the day before I have to prep and then on prep day I will only have clears and drink he magnesium citrate that they want me to drink.

I don't even want to look at the screen! That's nice that you had a nurse talking to you. I will def need that. It's taking me 3 years to say yes to this exam. Ugh sometimes we become our worst enemy.

Oh are you having the drink prep ? I've not had that I had the enema and I'm having that again . I'm not good with drinking things like that so probably for the best .

Yeah. You mentioned that you had proctitis? May I ask what symptoms you had exactly? Any rush to the bathroom? Do you have to have an std to have proctitis?

They did say proctitis originally and i had supposotories to treat it but then taken off them because the biopsies were normal. My symptoms are intermittent bleeding with bowel movements. Mucus and a little bit of stool without bowel movements. No pain, no urgency no loose stool and no weight loss . I got myself checked for Std despite being with my husband for 20 years because I had read that was the main cause of proctitis but it came back clear .
