Hi just read your post. I have been on Sertraline for a year 50mg, at first I had the normal side effects, burning sensation inside, feeling sick and tremor however I was so bad with anxiety I stuck it out and Im glad I did. This medication takes a while to work before you get the full kick of it, thats not to say it's not working. I was so bad I was off work for 8 months I could not go out, travell on public transport, I was scared to go to sleep and scared to be awake. The feelings I suffered were quite scary. Sertraline turned every thing around for me, as I said it takes time to work, after being onSertralin for 3 months I was able to go back to work, travel on a bus, and in general do all the things I loved doing before I was ill.I even went on holiday to greece last September for 2 weeks and had a wonderful christmas. Since starting to get better I look at life in a different way now and really appreciate what nature has given us for free, the birds singing, the sunshine, the rain the wonderful flowers that grow. I was terrified of taking this medication but at the end of the day it worked for me. Lots of luck . Lucky.

    Hi Patty

Just to say I found your post strangely reassuring. I took citalopram for around 2 weeks and to be honest thought I was going to die! I ended up shaking, feeling terrified, suffering awful nightmares, feeling sick... you name it. A good friend of mine who had also been on ADs made me talk to my doctor as he was so worried and I came off them and shortly after started on sertraline and they have been absolutely super! :-)

    Hiya

50mg for a few months, then went up to 75 last May as I was dealing with a lot of stress at work. I've been on them 15 months altogether - longer than I intended but I'm getting married this June so didn't want to come off them during the run-up to the wedding! Hoping to come off them in July. They're doing the trick though. I was very anxious about just about everything before, feeling on the verge of panic over little things, unable to sleep, and really just not enjoying life at all. Something little would happen that would irritate most people but would send me spiralling into moods which were totally disproportionate to the situation. Now I feel like me again. I've taken on extra stuff at work and I'm enjoying my job and life in general, and although I get stressed I tend to get stressed to the same level as everyone raound me rather than how I was before. I'm having counselling as well though, and that has helped too, so depending on your circumstances it's something I'd recommend (I had a lot of concrete stuff I really needed to talk over which has affected me a lot over the years.)

Hope they work for you and the side effects are not too bad - I had awful nausea when I started them but it went away after two weeks or so.

    Lots of love
