Advice needed for a non-blister herpe?

Was tested positive for the HSV-2 virus but have NOT had blisters of ANY kind??? Only a sore that did not scab, pus, or turn red. What is the explanation for such a thing?
Showed my doctor a picture and she said it could be a number of things. She then tested me for STDs and the results were negative except for the HSV-2. She threw out a number of 14 and said that showed that i was positive. Fourteen on a scale of what 100, 50, or 25? Am confused and in denial ... so much so that i am telling myself she gave me the wrong test or a false positive.
Any words of wisdom??

The vast majority of people with HSV are OB free. That's one reason why it's so prevalent.

Do you know of any other symptoms that happen when one doesn't experience an outbreak involving blisters?

Yes, you are correct - the blisters are generally filled with pus and break. Sometimes they are large (you've probably seen such a cold sore or someone's upper lip), and sometimes they are the size of a pin. It depends on the state of one's immune system how severe the outbreak is.
Symptoms without blisters include: burning, tingling, and/ or itching usually at the base of the spine or at the site where the virus was contracted. Because the virus travels via nerve pathways, there can be nerve pain, neuropathy, burning or tingling sensations anywhere in the body, but it is usually close to the site of viral entry.
The best non drug treatment is lysine and a low arginine and citrus-free diet. Take vitamin c and zinc, and a good multi. The best non drug treatment of all is controversial, but very effective. It is a synthetic antioxidant called BHT. It is used to preserve food. It comes in capsule or lotion form. The substance is more effective if you empty the capsule contents into warm coconut oil and ingest it. It tastes bad, but works well. You can experiment with dose to see what works for you. I am not a doctor, so I don't tell people specific dosages - it is best to follow your own protocol based on your experience. You can google BHT and you will see that it is hotly debated. But I can tell you it works for me.

Hello! I never had fluid filled blisters, 8 get a small crack/cut on my labia which is itchy and sore! I also get nerve pain in my knee, groin and leg. I have herpes type 2 and type1 diagnosed via swab of the 'cut'.

I've never taken any rx meds at all. I do lysine, bht, raw foods, no citrus. I have more outbreaks since starting hormone replacement. Testosterone was the worst, but estrogen is problematic also. Since menopause citrus has been a real problem. Bht is pretty effective if taken daily.

Wow that's great. BHT is that hormone therapy? I may start lysine just not sure if I can take while breastfeeding,

I've started valtrex that the doctor at the clinic gave me extra of just in case I feel something starting the best thing to do is start the meds right away to minimize the outbreak. Were you given anything?

My doctor told me to call her when i had an outbreak ... so is that now or when i have another blister or get another sore or get another nerve tremor. Thinkin that i will try to stay off any meds until i get the bill for the 1st doctor's visit or have unbearable stuff happen. Should have put my username as Indecisive1

Lol! At least you still have your humour! Are the nerve tremors still there? Or did they come right before the blister? I would call or go see her now that you have a blister! Did she say the nerve tremour was related? Everyone I've asked said my vibrations are odd!! They are not typical. Most people get tingling in a certain spot. I get overall vaginal vibrations. Feels like buzzing. Is this similar?

The sensations were before the blister, which popped last night (good thing). My 'shocks' are not all over, just in and around my pelvic area. Guess it's more like a flutter of a shock not intense like but a very odd sensation that i've not experienced before. Just got the bill this morning so i don't think'll be returning for a while (everything is bareable). So if my pelvis buzzes again i can be sure a blister is on the way. Do you have an outbreak after your vibrations?
All of this had happened since i saw the doctor so i didn't get to ask her about it. But my intuition tells me that it all ties together.

Hi GreenTea,
Does your leg groin pain come before the cut apppears? Are you on any meds? I get vibrations and hip pain but not sure yet if linked to a reoccurrence 😔... still trying to figure it out as I've not had any symptoms for over 3 years and now after delivering my baby I seem to be getting all these weird symptoms and my gut tells me associated with a reoccurrence.

Does it feel electrical? Or is it tingling? I'm not sure yet still trying to figure it out! I get these vibrations but oddly enough I remember almost 10 years ago going to the doctor with same sensation and she said was nothing! I've only ever had an ob once over 3 years ago. Here they won't test you because they can't differentiate between 1 and 2 and so many ppl are asymtomatic carriers. I can't believe how many ppl actually carry the virus more type 1 but lots of type 2 as well but never know. They never have symptoms and that is why it is number one STD being passed around
! Part of me thinks I've had for a long time but not completely sure.

My sensation is a mild electric shock kind of feeling. It did come before the blister. Have been quite stressed lately so my 'self diagnosis' is that my stress has brought this on & i will know in the future the kind of feeling i will get before another blister appears. IF that WAS my first "outbreak" (one blister) then i am releaved. Simply because i have read your first outbreak is the worst, but time will tell.
My doctor diagnosed my HSV-2 with a "serum" test and explained an antibody was found for HSV-2 at a count of 14 (any finding above 1.5 shows you pretty much have the virus).

I think 14 is pretty high. I would read or ask but from what I've read this means likely you've had for a long time.

F×(K!!!!!!
She said that there was NO rating on how high the number was & that there was not a scale & there wasn't a way to tell how long you had it ... She said anything over 1.5 showed that you are positive for the virus.
Was tested back in 2005 and then again in 2011, negative for all. But neither places tested for HSV because there was no blister.
There isn't a way to tell how long but ALL of this had shown me to stop being so trustful of men. Not that i am loose but I have been with a couple of men ...
Fourteen was the number of antibodies that were in the unit of blood sent off ...
