advice needed for dysplasia of the hip question

My 5 year old was diagnosed with displsia of the hip on left leg, at 7 month old had two operations when he was 1 years of age, then been followed up every year. I have just been to this yearly follow up where for the past 4 years we have been telling his consultant his right leg, seems to be turning inwards, causing him to trip himself up, can't walk/run for long periods etc etc so today we see a consultant who says he will need an operation on his right leg the same what got done on his left leg to correct, he went and spoke to the registra whome came back and said he will not operate on the right leg until my son is between 8-10 years, I was just wondering if anybody else has been through this, as I would of thought it would of been best to operate now rather than when he is older and can effect him more.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated, thankyou.

I am 20 and was diognosed with hip dysplasia when i was 6 months old. What surgery is it your child has had done?

Hip dysplasia can vary between each person in severity. I am reluctent to tell you my story as i am a unique case due to the severity of my CHD and do not want to over worry you as your childs journey with it could be completely different to mine. But i am happy to help in anyway i can x

Hi Sarah, he has had his hip/leg broken and put back into the correct place with pins and plate, and also his thigh bone turned around. He has had 2 operations both where he was in a hip spica one for 3 months then the second for 6 weeks. It's just now his left leg which has been operated on is straight and foot facing forward, but the right leg is turning in, sorry I can't go into too much detail, I kind of went into shut down when he had the first operation so my partner was the one listening to all the details xx
