    Hi

I went on sertraline - only latest 5 days - i had all your symptoms - ended up in a and e and they put me on a strong dose of diazepam to calm me down. doc took me off it the next day as i said i couldnt handle it and ow on fluoxetine - which so far so good…

22 days is a long time to deal with those symptoms for

Have you tried beta blockers fro your gp for the physical symptoms?

    Hi Debs

I've had agoraphobia for over 20 years. Was given sertraline in the summer of 2013. The first 2 months or so was absolute hell, but I'm now on 200mg of the stuff and things are really improving. My advice would be stick at it, it is a hard drug to cope with at first, but eventually it really does help!

Thank you all for your replies . I was given propanoral to take to reduce heart beat tried them and all the did is reduce it all other symptoms remained so stopped them. Have low doses of diazapam to take on difficult days which does lower the horrible anxiety but I know it is only masking the problem .

Thanks Rhys for your comment so glad they are helping you with your anxiety.

Zoe great news. They have started to work for you .

No one understands how awful it is to feel like this . Anxiety makes the dizziness worse sad

I will continue for awhile longer as I have made it to 3 weeks following your advice .

Glad fluoxetine is helping you .is it another med for anxiety ? Deb x

No medication is going to be a quick fix, this is why people need to make sure this is the correct medication for there symptoms, there are many success stories for long term sufferers, I cant stress enough how this has improved my life and kept things very stable me, I still have the occasional blip but you cant numb everything and need to keep a hold on reality.

Hi Deb, I have had the same sympoms and the anxiety has not subsided. Been on them 4 weeks now - it's no fun.

The side effects have reduced a little and with encouragement from others on here i'm going to stick with them. I'm on 50mg.

    Hello,

I have been on Sertraline for nearly 3mths now and yes the side effects are awful. I still have the side effects now, but they are not as bad as the first month. Also the doctor has just increased my strength to 150mg and every time the strength goes up the side effects come back ten times worse.

I am going to stick with this drug as it can only get better can't it & also the support & advice on here has really helped me through it.

I would try you're best to stick with them if you can.

    Best of luck, take care.

hi, been on them for a year now and all is well. ive suffered from depression mostly but had major anxiety and attacks coming off another med called mirtazapine.. the sertraline/zoloft took a few months to really start working. the first few days were the worst, tightness round the head, dizzy more like being drunk with shakey limbs. that soon went but the insomnia was driving me nuts. i slowly found my sleep though and things got better at last. stick with the med for now and see how it goes. the changes are very slow but in time work well for most peeps.

hang in there and all the best you peeps like me, your not alone : )
