Advice on Gloves - Contact Dermatitis

I was wondering if anyone in the UK could help me with finding some gloves? I've had severe contact dermatitis on my hands for years. I know exactly what I'm allergic to, and the problem is that it's pretty much everything one touches in the course of normal life!

I'm a musician, so being able to use my hands freely is pretty important for playing instruments.

What I'm looking for now is flesh-coloured (preferably cotton) gloves. I realise I may not be able to find any that are flesh-coloured AND 100% cotton. I need to avoid anything too synthetic though, as it definitely irritates my skin.

I can find a US company that makes them but they don't deliver to the UK frustratingly!

I also have very small hands - same size as most 11 year olds'! So actually kids-size work better for me. I already have multiple pairs of cotton and silk gloves in black and white, but these days am getting really fed up with people's comments. I'm hoping flesh-coloured will be a bit less conspicuous. And that by making that colour choice, people will get the hint that I'm really not in the mood for any Michael Jackson jokes...

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

as you already have white gloves, why not try naturally dying them. For example, beetroot juice turns fabric pink? As for the balck ones, why not 'bling them up' to draw attemtion to your music-creating hands? Get over any wise-cracks and just keep smiling. Unless you tell them, they are not going to understand, are they? Also, have you researched your condition to try to find the root cause as to why you are pretty much allergic to anything one touches in the course of normal life?

Hi Catherine, thank you for your reply. Yep, I've blinged-up in the past, so guess I could do so again.I need to learn a bit more patience with people asking I suppose! I do sometimes feel as though I discuss it for at least 10 minutes a day one way or another, and it wears me down a little smile

I've had lots of patch tests. I had no allergies as a child, but it came on in my late teens and I've had multiple allergies for about 15 years now. The dermatologists aren't really interested in the whys unfortunately - they're just interested in listing the impossible things I'm supposed to avoid, and just say that people develop new allergies all the time; that's just how it is.

My worst allergy is metals, and aged 18 I started at music college, playing a metal flute for upwards of 4 hours a day. Since then, I've acquired new allergies all the time. I wonder whether over-exposure is what caused my immune system to go into overdrive in the first place. I've tried many alternative therapies, which have helped a little, but ultimately never resolved it.

I may well try the beetroot juice idea though. I'm allergic to a chemical that's in most dyes, so have ruled it out previously, but juice is a good way to avoid!

My daughter is having an eczema flare up at present and is researching a lot more than she did last time, when she was in denial about food intolerance. She's only eating organic foods, drinks herb teas (Pukka), is avoiding deadlynightshade related foods, including tomatoes, and is cleaning her gut with probiotics. How healthy is your gut? Apparently, it influences the way our skin is, and the cleaner it is the better. Good luck. most doctors just want to sell drugs so google "natural cures for" your condition, and get started on getting yourself better YOUR WAY!
