Advice on healing after hemmie banding

Posted , 3 users are following.

hello everyone,

i need some advice re how long healing takes after banding four hemmies.

i had the procedure done on 20 th dec, i had blood two days later Dr said thats normal. However im still feeling pressure there, could i be a slow healer? My personal doc said it takes a while to heal the scars inside.

i just need reassurance that it can take time, i am 59 with health anxiety and menopause.

thanks for any advice 🌸

Hi Carol, Don't worry You're doing fine - I was still in complate agony at that 4 weeks post op. (female 52 yrs old) I was feeling a lot of pressure for nearly 4 months - so much so that I had to go back in and be checked - I'm sure t's different for everyone but it really was 5 months for me before the pressure feeling was gone. Lucky you to be doing so well at 4 weeks - sounds like you're doing great!

Thanks so much for your reply SFlor, its doing my head in with worry. I know its not a pleasant topic! I was glad i found this thread im also on menopause thread and prozac thread. So many helpful people here. Drs didnt really give much advice about what to expect post op. I had four and he banded them all, i wasnt happy about him wanting to do so many at once. But the pain was minimal, just still feeling odd!

thanks again, im relieved you halped me!🌺

    Hi Carol,

i had banding 3 times. Perhaps I was just lucky but I never needed any pain killers and a hot bath soothed me. Just a bit of an ache 24/48 hours after the banding. I had 4 grade 4 haemorrhoids . The last banding was August, 2016. About 6 weeks after each banding I had an enormous blood loss, but it never worried me and it just stopped the day it started.

on 24th November 2016 I had an haemorrhoidectomy, the surgeon told me ... No more banding as it is not working anymore. I had 4 haemorrhoids done one by the HALO method.

Today I am over the moon, just perfect  in that area. The pain was incredible    the day or two after the op, but it got better every day and after 2 weeks I was well the way to recovery. I am older than you Carol. Hope you get a full recovery.. Best wishes

I found the 3 banding that I had were extremely easy to handle. The heavy blood was around 6 weeks afterwards my surgeon said he had never heard of that long a time fir this to happen after the banding. But as it did not bother me because it cleared up the same day, I therefore did not report it to anyone.

      Hi June,

glad to hear you are pleased with your procedure, ive read it can be very painful for a while, so you sound lucky with that.

im hoping my banding worked Dr didnt say come back to have them checked, obviously if im still worried down the track i will get checked out.

my problem started after increasing an anti depressant dose causing constipation mmm. So im being super vigilant about fibre, i do remember my grandad had bad piles! They can run in families i believe, and menopause can change bowel motility, mmm what fun live throws us! NOT? Thanks again, best wishes 🌸
