Hi all, I am 4 weeks post op for repair to broken tibia, fibula & broken bone in my ankle. I've had a rod through my tibia and screws in my ankle. I'm getting a lot of discomfort in my ankle through the night . I have my leg resting on a pillow but can't find a comfortable position to lie in. I havnt't got a cast on I'm only in Ted stockings. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I also had a lot of pain in my ankle at night for many weeks following the surgery. I found that keeping the boot cast on at night, even loosely, helped reduce the discomfort.

I would like to thank you all for your kind replies and information. 8weeks on from my op and I am now starting to walk again. It's slow but steady. Big obstacle is to get out the front door down 2 steps. Physio doing this with me on Wednesday coming then hopefully week after try the stairs. Off work another 6 weeks and depending on my recovery could maybe go back to work end of August. Discomfort in my ankle and arch is improving think this is due being more mobile. I live in hope that I'll make a decent recovery. Many thanks once again. June x

Hi June happy to see it is going better. Physio is a must, so keep on with it. Stairs are always a nightmare, especially if they are the reason for your injury. I slipped on one small wet step, and that was the reason for my break. Even now I hate going down that specific step, even if steps are not a problem anymore. Think the memory of that day still causes fear. But don't worry it will all come together suddenly, just keep on working on it and you will make a great recovery.

Thank you Daphne for your words of encouragement. Yes your right there us always that fear of falling again. Well till I get more stability on both legs. I'm taking my time and creeping and crawling. My ankle and arch of foot don't seem quite as uncomfortable as they used to be, that's probably because I am more mobile. But thank you once again for your help. X
