Advice on lexapro needed: morning or night?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I just wanted to see when people take their lexapro? My dr told me to take it at bedtime but the first two days, I took it during the day just to ensure that I wouldn't have an allergic reaction to it. I plan on taking it at bedtime tonight.. Another question that I have is, since my (and just about everyone else's) anxiety is so much worse in the morning, would taking it before bed time help ease my morning anxiety? Any help or lexapro tips would be appreciated! Please no negativity as I am already stuck in a vicious cycle of negative thinking!

Hi Megan. I'm not on Lexapro but I do take my medicine in the morning. I'm on Paxil 20 mg. I find though when I did take my medicine at night I was still pretty tired in the morning. So I don't know if there's really any rhyme or reason LOL. I guess I would ask my doctor. And good luck hon!!

I was told by a Clinician when I rang to speak to someone that I should take my Fluoxetine in the morning.

Then again the doctor who put me on it said I could take it either in the morning or night and I was used to taking medication at night and that's what I do.

The half life of the medication is 32 hours. Meaning half of the drug is taken out of the body every 32 hours. So once a day is more than enough to cover the anxiety. Also the time to peak effect of the drug is 5hrs, so taking it at night and sleeping for 5-7hrs, you wake up when the medication is at its peak concentration in the morning

I take 10 mg Lexapro every morning.  After about 3-4 weeks at 10 mg, I noticed improvement.  Psychiatrist told me morning or night is fine, I chose morning since I generally wake up same time every day and its easier to remember to take the pill once I wake up.

Did you have a decrease in your urine output? I am going MAYBE twice per day. I googled and it's one of the more rare side effects and I shoudl probably contact my dr but it's actually working for me mentally and I don't want to be taken off of it.
