Advice on managing Haemorrhoids

Hello all

Looking for some advice in managing internal/external piles

Background info

41 year old male, slightly overweight. I’ve been dealing with bleeding stage 3 piles now for about a 1.5 years. Never knew I had them till one day at a golf tournament I left the course and saw blood in be boxers. Thank god I had black pants on that day! From the point on, I would go a couple of days to a week with no blood in the toilet, some days would be worse ( dripping, stains in the bed) I got in last summer to see the doctor, he referred me for a scope, doc confirmed one external ( which never has caused me grief) and internal grade 3, it’s kinda of attached or close to the external where it will prolapse. Recommended surgery, I was afraid, and read all the horror stories here so I’ve delayed. I did have another episode on the golf course last year, during the middle of the round, thank goodness a restroom was right there. So know I’m paranoid on the course, and I can only assume surgery is a must. Well I’m going to put it off till October ( I don’t want to be layed up for the summer ) but has anyone got tips or a diet to manage it. It’s sad, but I’m so used to seeing blood in the toilet, blood clots on the toilet paper, it doesn’t phase me anymore. But I play a lot of golf, and tournaments with friends, but I’m freaking out every time I’m on the course. So anyone have some advice or tips, experienced this ?

Thanks in advane guys

I would aim for softer stools so you minimise the chance of aggravating the IH.

Either slowly increasing your fibre until you reach a desired stool level or using something like Fybogel will help in doing so. Drinking more water will help, too.

After passing a stool, try a stiz bath (where you simply sit in a warm bath for 5-10 minutes) to allow any opening to heal up. Constant wiping will cause more damage, so minimise the wiping (do you use wet wipes? They're good) and then bath them gently in a bath (if you have time).

As for the golf course scenario - try super thin absorption pads (I used them for a while after my op) and they will soak any blood leakage. Can you take wet wipes with you? They may help the clean up process if you pass a stool whilst out or if there is a leakage.

Hi, check out essential oils for Haemorrhoids, Cypress, Frankincense, Peppermint, Tea Tree, you can mix these essential oils with a carrier oil such as sweet almond oil, at a ratio 2 drops essential oil to 1 teaspoon sweet almond oil, mix a combination of these oils 8 drops to 4 teaspoons and massage on the area to treat, lots of info online about the benefits of essential oils, they are astringent, pain relieving, stopping bleeding, shrinking blood vessels, antimicrobial, antibacterial, essential oil are the plants immune system, might be worth a try.

There are two following ointment/ treatment as under which is recommended by some individuals:

    1. 7 days treatment (18 Tablets) called 'Hemovel' manufactured by Stragen Pharma of Switzerland.

    2. Preparation H ointment.

Can I have the views of those who have been using above treatments indicating their results?

    Thanking you

Hi, eat high fibre diet and drink plenty of water. If you do not want the operation until October then get your doctor to prescribe cream or something that will help. I had four internal and two external removed in October and I never had a alot of pain after it.Changed my diet as I said earlier on and drink lots of water this helps to soften your BM.
