Advice on taking orlistat at festivals.

Hello all,

I have been on the tablets for a month now and not lost a great deal. I was doing fine then I stopped for two weeks as I went to a festival and then on holiday. I didn't put on any weight luckily and watched what I ate. I am now back on the tablets controlling my eating again. However next week I am off to a festival and not sure what too eat or if excessive alcohol will cause some side effects. Any advice would be brilliant. Do you think I should stop taking them whilst at the festival?

    Hi Shazzbat

Either take your own food or get a healthy choice instead. If you aren't going to eat healthy come off them 2/3 days before the festival then go back on them 3 days after so you wont get any side effects. If you are going to eat high fat make sure you do it for only the one time as you don't want to get into a hab it of eating junk for x days

You can drink as much as you like

I personally would stay on them, but take my own food even if that meant I lived off porridge and milk but I REALLY want to loose weight and then maintain a healthy diet

if you dont loose weight I doubt your dr will repeat prescription

Thank for your advice. It's just what I needed. I intend to stay on them and be very diligent on my choice of food. I do take my own food but when it's v hot it doesn't last long. I will have to go and check out fat value in some packet foods. Or I shall be eating brown rice lol! As long as I can drink that's fine. :-)

Take what you can frozen in a cool box packed with ice. Defrost when needed. Fruit should stay ok for a few days

you could perhaps make batches of meat free mince with onion etc and just cook up some rice or pasta.

    tins of fruit in juice?

Yes we do take cool boxes, been going to festivals for many years now just been very hot recently and everything melts - we are there for 6 days. Dried packet food seems the best option or pasta with sauces.

I have never tried meat free mince?? Do you mean vegatarian option? like quorn? I have tried that its ok... its not mince lol!

Almond milk is less fat than semi skimmed milk. I use on porridge -its bearable!

I will try with rice pudding one day

I drink skimmed milk and have water on porridge... I know I am a freak lol! I tend to add artificial sweetner to the porridge and a banana. The main difficulty is that we will be working for 7.5 hours on a gate so pack lunch it is.... Think I will take carrots, rice cakes, philli and fruit. Should keep me going :-)

It was suggested in britnys blog. Made it today, it was actually ok. Not steak mince but a compromise to get to goal. I added onion, garlic, tomatoes and fresh basil. I found 50g was enough for me with 75g fresh pasta (serving suggestion was 100g). I worked out it was 2.4-2.5g of fat total so im well chuffed

if you like courgettes that could be added

6 days is a long time. Id worry more about the toilets and shower situation than the food lol

you can get 'extreme' cool boxes which lasts 5 days. You need alot of ice, I buy the packs of ice as well as ice packs
