On recently being diagnosed with fibro, being told I have possibly had it for years. Does anyone else also suffer with water infections as a result of fibro or could tablets be the cause?

I'm so sorry to hear your suffering too meggiemoo, I thankfully only suffer with urine infections. The doc suggested it's because I suffer mainly with fibro in my lower back. But he still cannot offer me a solution as to why I get infections!

      Sending huggs

Yea alot going on but when im explaining it to people i get upset n wonder if maybe theyre right is it in my head? I have a lot of pelvic problems and lower back. Always having to pee often and was told i have ibs so like u that area is the worst for me. I havent checked in a while if i have a UTI but sometimes feel like i do..nost days actually. Yea its horrible. My tongue goes all white ..bit embarrising huh. I think when im well im well and think maybe im imagining it but then i feel a certain way write down the syptom and think well there must be something wrong. Its so frustrating. Do u have bother with ur hands. I cant type as well as i used to. I find im miss spelling everything and sometimes even when im trying to say something i get confused and say the wrong words xx

Meggiemoo, it's not in your head sweetie. Never be embarrassed, it's a condition and I thank everyone on this site for being so supportive.

I also suffer with ibs and have done for years. My lower back and pipe work all seems to suffer. I have problems with my hands, grasping and often drop things. My speech and concentration has declined too.

My doctor thought nothing of my symptoms but i demanded I went to a pain management clinic who diagnosed fibro. Huggs x

Oh so were in the same boat then i really do start questioning myself. Im now dairy intolerant or at least ive been told that i am so i dont have dairy anymore and wheb i do i suffer. Altho i bload alot after eating anyway.. You know how it goes. Yes the thing with your hands i feel like im losing my grio at time. Ive also recebtly fell due to my legs giving way. Ive has blood tests done for everything and ultrasound because doc thought i might have had polycystic ovaries. But nothing all clear. I just keep going back n back for lots of different things. Im not sleeping well and when i do sleep its broken or i wake up feeling like ive been hit by a truck. Also brain fog.. It can be sobad i feel stressed n have blurred vision. Did u tell your doctor you thought u had fibro or how did u go about getting diagnosed and dit it take long? Xx

I first told my doc I thought I had fibro but he said no it can't be but after going to pain management they confirmed it was. I've been feeling like this for about 5 years but have only just been diagnosed in the last couple of months.

Sleeping is an issue for me too I either crave for sleep or spent nights just sitting up counting the hours.

Getting up out of bed in the mornings is a huge struggle. The left side of my body feels stiff, bloated, tingling and numb.

Girl, are we twins lol x

Hi Ripley, sorry to hear you've been told you have fibro.  Fibro affects the immune system, so regrettably it is possible that some sufferers will experience less resistance to infections and viruses generally.  As fibro differs considerably from one person to another, not everyone will have the same symptoms or affect.  The range of minor 'add on' problems that fibro causes is vast, everything from headaches to stomach issues and everything in between unfortunately.  Various vitamin deficiencies can also present in fibro sufferers, particularly B12, D3 and magnesium which may give rise to lower defences.  Ask your doctor to request blood tests to see whether you have any deficiencies that could be giving rise to repeated infections.  A low grade infection can remain dormant in the body for a long time and spring up as bladder or chest or other infection without warning.  I had a very bad kidney infection one time and was told I'd had a chest infection over a year previously which had caused a low grade residual infection to remain but without symptoms, then as a result of having a flu virus, my immune system was compromised and it sprang into life in my kidneys.  Hope this and other posts help.

Hope you manage to resolve this added problem hon.  I've ditched all prescription meds, they either didnt work or had horrible side effects which just made me feel worse.   I do take some supplements - D3, sub lingual B12 and curcumin (great for inflammatory pain - as I have OA too).  Just started taking something call Ashwagandha - which is an ayurvedic herbal remedy.  It is stated to be excellent for stress, fatigue, lack of concentration and lack of energy, all of which are hellish problems for those of us with fibro.  For sleep problems, I personally find a few meditation exercises before bed help me, I found some on youtube which are easy and seem good, plus I take a Piriton just before going to bed - which helps in two ways - first it stops me getting stuffed up allergy symptoms overnight and as they make you drowsy, it seems to help with getting to sleep too.  unfortunately I've  yet to discover anything to prevent me waking up during the night in pain or discomfort sad.  Good luck hon. xx

      Hi loxie

Don't think I'm brave enough to ditch my pain killers but thanks I'll certainly look into more natural remedies.

I do take nettle for my tingling and itchy areas. That does help.

      Good luck smile

I've ditched all perscription meds too. Well anything related to the fibro or the migraines I've had for nearly a year. The ADD medicine is the only thing I take and only on work days. Everything else did nothing or had terrible, terrible side effects. I also dont appreciate being treated like a guinea pig while doctors throw random perscriptions at me.
