Hi

I first went to the GP in November last year with GI problems , mainly diarreha and constipation, fowel smelling faeces, abdominal pain/cramps and extremely tired. After several blood tests it was confirmed I had really low iron and folate levels and was given tablets to review in couple of months.

With my symptoms persisting further blood tests where done in january to test for celiac disease ( family history) and my iron levels (low levels but not anaemic) but they hadn't risen much so I was told I had to take iron and folate for 9 months and my GI problems where put down to low iron levels.

However after still having symptoms I called a few days ago to check if my celiac results had come back, and to my surprise it was negative . I called to arrange an appointment with the GP as that morning I had blood for my anus ( bright red) and still had my ongoing symptoms from November. I was seen by the GP less then one hour later and had a rectal exam to confirm I did not have anal fissures or haemorrhoids.

He said if it was IBS I wouldn't have bleeding and thought best to refer me for colonoscopy. After discussing my family history with bowel cancer he looked concerned which made me also. I am now having bleeding with very little bowel movement and im only 28 .

Hey! i have had very similar symptoms also from November, my specialist also refered me for a colonoscopy/endoscopy and i am suppose to have that sometime in May. I also have a family history of Bowel cancer and cancer in general on my dads side which makes me worried also. i have just turned 21 and obviously its a bit worrying being so young! i was meant to have the colonoscopy and endoscopy next week but i had complications with the tonsillectomy i had last month and now i have to have it again! because he didnt do it properly!! in the mean time i have tried to eat healthier and i have decided to start a gluten free dieat just to see what happens, i guess it cant hurt right. I hope all goes well with you! please keep me updated! is your colonoscopy booked soon ?

so its a long story so sorry for the paragraph but in June last year my lymph nodes on my neck came up out of no where and it was very painful so i went to my GP and i had anti biotics and not long after i had a BM which had blood in it and basically turned the water a pale pink colour. I was so scared and freaked out but it only happened that one time and it was the least of my worries at the time because the doctors thought i had Lymphoma i was sent to an Oncologist which was incredibly scary! but he didnt seem to worried so that was a massive relief although i still had alot of symptoms and at the time i also had glandular fever for the second time which is also apparently rare. So within the next month i started to get numbness and tingling in my arms and legs which over a week got so bad that i ended up being so weak that i could barely move and couldnt walk without assistance. this lasted about a month and was one of the hardest things ive ever been through! i was in hospital for about a week they ran some tests which came back clear for example a 2hr MRI on my brain and full spinal and a lumbar puncture. so eventually i had an appointment with a Neurologist as i also have Photosensitive Epilepsy and was taking Epilim at the time and had been for the past 10yrs in that appointent she did a nerve conduction test which showed that i was weak and we decided that i would change my epilepsy medication to Lamictal which i am currently on. about a week or so after i changed my medication i got better and was almost back to normal with walking and moving again so wether that was a coincidence or not im not intirely sure. then in november i had an anal fissure which then was bleeding alot for 3 days in a row and a couple other days. and then my Tonsil issue happened it had been up for about 9 months prior to that but obviously it was on the bottom of my list of things i needed to get checked out so over the course of that i had ALOT of antibiots and the strongest ones you can get over the counter which did not work. During that time my BM started to change being colour shape size and smell. obviously i was worried again especially after finding out my pop has terminal bowel cancer. i emailed my specialist as obvously its an embarresing thing to talk about and he said wait a couple weeks as it might be from the anti biotics but i just asked for the referall anyway because i new something wasnt right. So i wouldve had it earlier like i said but i had my tonsils removed in February and booked my colonoscopy and endoscopy for the beginning of April but instead of this happeneing my surgeon decided to leave to much tissue in there and they grew back 3 weeks later !! i was so angry and upset the pain was unbearable so i had them removed for a second time in April instead of the other one. so now i am booked to have both on the 9th also i got hemmerhoids from the surgery because the painkilers stop you from being able to go to the toilet and i didnt even think about it till it got to like a week later and realised i hadnt had a BM for that long so you could imagine how bad it was when it came out this happened both times for both surgeries you think i wouldve learnt the first time! but literally was the WORST thing ever! so my fingers are crossed that its something simple although i just have that feeling like i know somethings not right and even now im still having issues with my throat i just feel like its never ending and im struggling a little its been the toughest year of my life!!

Aww that sound horrendous . I hope all goes well for you then fingers crossed . Iv had blood with BM twice which have both lasted several days. Been checked for anal fissures and haemorroids both negative and doctors doesn't seem to think it's IBS and celiac was negative also resulting in me over thinking it. I have very low iron and ferritin levels which is a sign of inflammation in the body plus my antibodies are pretty high since the end of last year

Thank you! I also had low iron last month and I had to get the injections for it I really hope it's nothing serious !!!

Hi Ashley yes I had mine of the 5th of my I had several biopsies done still awaiting the results I get them on the 13th June he did say after the procedure was done that I didn't have cancer so I'm happy with that, my bleeding had subsides for 2 weeks but it's now back and worse than before, I thought I was getting better but it appears not 😐

That's positive he was able to say definitely not cancer. Why did he take biopsys and what where they from ? How often do you bleed ? X
