Hello I have been on cit 20 mg now from January been doing well on it apart from the last week or so where my axiety started back up again I was not well but got over that however Monday just gone I got into work and was really bad so spoke to my pharmist at work and he told me to take my propananol 40 mg which I did and it calmed me down then again the next day however on the Wednesday I didn't take it as it does make me feel not right but since then I have felt like I am not with it like my head is not there so yesterday I asked if propananol has any side effects when you just stop taking them and he said not really as I only had them for 2 days but my worry is I still feel like I am detached from things today is quite bad do you think it's the citalopram that's giving me a blip just looking for advice really as they have been good for me so far up until now x

Hi - I am  much the same as you.  Been on Cit for about 13 weeks at 15mg (started at 10) and was feeling pretty good.  Then this last week felt anxious again.  My Doc had already given me propranolol and I saw her yesterday and she suggested taking 20mg if I feel anxious (originally occasionally taking only 10mg) Took 20mg this morning on waking as I seem to have morning anxiety - and now mid afternoon and feel fine.  Although I do find that even on bad days, I seem to get progressively better as the day goes on and almost normal by bed time.  I did encounter some stressful situations last week which are still ongoing so guess that is what flipped me.  Who knows what goes on in our heads.  I am just sticking with it as the alternative is to come slowly off Cit and go on another A/D with all the side effects of the new one to cope with.  Decided better the devil I know.......

?I don't seem to have any side effects from the propranolol although Doc did say that taking 40mg at a time could make me drowsy all day - not a good idea.

I've been having a lot more anxiety too this past week. Not sure where you live, but I think my blip  has to do with the long winter we are having here in the Midwest. I've gotten my sun lamp out (stupidly, I hadn't been using it at all this summer even though I know lack of sunlight is one of my triggers), and have started to take Vitamin D supplements.

?I'd give it a few more weeks to see if it is indeed a blip. If you haven't had any improvement, maybe it's time to talk with your doctor about bumping up to 30 mg.
