Advice please regarding hip pain

Hello all. I'm hoping for advice especially from Eileen H our guru on here but all appreciated. Diagnosed Jan 18 and had good response to 15mg prednisolone. Have been stuck at 8.5mg for around 8 months now and while not perfect its ok at that especially if I take the pred around 6am. A few days ago I developed a painful Right hip. I suspect I may have pulled something getting in the car when space was tight in a carpark. Not sure but something was certainly uncomfortable. This has since grown so that now it is very painful to bend (eg load washing machine) Also to sit down although once "down" pain goes. I have to lower myself using my hands to take my weight. I notice it is uncomfortable to rotate the leg too. Not sure if I should increase pred or rest and wait. I'm thinking its injury as only one hip involved. I feel I injure much easier these days. Is that to be expected?

Have you talked to your doctor about it? You could ask for an xray.

Thanks ptolemy. Must admit I put off going to GP as I rarely see the same one and they seem to know little about PMR. But yes, maybe I should this time.

I think I'd be asking for an x-ray to be sure there is nothing nasty going on. It's the pain on rotation that bothers me a bit.

And yes - it does seem to be easier to damage tendons and ligaments.

Bruising and superficial skin cuts and scrapes have been rampant since being on Prednisone, even now down to 5 mg.
