Advice/support/experiences please-ovarian cysts?
Posted , 12 users are following.
I have cysts on both sides. left hand side about 11cm, right hand side 10cm.
I am being sent for an "urgent" MRI in 7 days. Rather worried how I will stay still for a whole hour all by myself in the MRI? Any tips please?
Then I go back to the consultant the week after to see if they are cysts or cancerous and how we will treat them.
I am having dizzy spells where I feel that the world is turning to the right. Constant back pain that feels like something is pressing on my back which makes me feel like I need to go poo.. Gassiness. I can feel the cysts as painful lumps from the front too. My stomach is hard and stretched.
I'm feeling very tired from the discomfort and worry.
My appetite is still pretty normal.
Sex is a little painful in certain positions as my tummy is tender and I can't fold up my body properly. I'm not able to move as easily.
They have been "watching" the cysts for 2 years now and have seen them grow from 5cm to 7cm to 11cm. Only now are they doing something about it.
My Ca125 test was 31 six months ago, it is now 37.
I'm very anxious and on edge.
I have no idea what the 'cysts' are made of though my last report said they have a "mild vascularity".
Also, I am diabetic and I have PCOS.
Any advice or support ladies? I need it to get through this uncertain time.

Since one of the people at work caused a big todo about me taking time off I only have a week cleared off work. Reading other posts this sounds like I am kidding myself that I can possibly be working 7 days after surgery?
I dont have to do too much physically, I will have to walk around a little (which sounds like we are encouraged to anyway) some bending over etc. Mostly just dealing with people which worries me too as I may not be in the best of places emotionally...
What do you think ladies... can I do this or am I going to have to seriously pee off some people?

Oh Mary,You've enough to be worrying about so ignore miffed work colleagues! If you could of had the surgery in the holidays then you would have jumped at the chance. You come first, your health is the most important thing AND you got no choice on when the Op would be.Anyone with half a heart that knew what you're dealing with would show compassion!
I was 11 days post Op yesterday and it was my first trip put of the house and driving! My bruise is still huge and where the lap of the seat belt sits,so don't rush back to driving and expect to be comfortable.
I would say you'll need 2 weeks off! It's only the last few days that I feel more myself.Clothes still aren't fitting and there's internal healing going on and bloating.Again waste bands need to be lose. Please don't commit yourself to 7 days off!you could make yourself ill or hinder your recovery.
Beenthere has some good suggestions. And eating light meals for the week after is all you'll manage. Also bowels get messed up and constipation sets in even with the softener. This agrivates the internal healing and makes you feel bloated. Now I do have IBS and Diverticulitis so maybe I suffer more than the norm.
I had no problem with the Anaesthetic and quite like that bit and like I've said before the bedside manor of surgeons and all the team seems to be wonderful these days.
Really try to distract yourself over the weekend and make the most of being able to get out and do things.
I'm thinking if you and this is finally getting sorted!!! X

Mary,
It will take what it takes. You're under the care of your surgeon until they release you. You needvto follow orders.
If it's a co-worker getting miffed raspberries to them. If it's your boss same. You are ill and need major surgery. They know the system and how slowly it moves. Do not jeopardize your health and go back too soon. Do you know any woman who has a child by C-section ready for work a week after the surgery? No. You are the same but will be able to focus on YOU and healing. I'm sure your employer requires a Drs release prior to your return. Your stitches won't even be out in a week. I worked from home for 6 weeks and it was exhausting and delayed things. I still didn't feel ready when I went back.
Put it out of your mind and focus on yourself for a a change. Spend the weekend relaxing and enjoying your family. Celebrate the beginning of the new cyst free you. One step at a time. Everything else can wait.

Hi girls, it is 3am and today is my surgery. I have had a sore tummy all weekend, spotting pink blood and anything I have eaten has just shot out again. I hope this doesn't stop my surgery! I think it is just nerves. I just wanted to say thank you to all the wonderful ladies here who have been so supportive, informative and kind. I will update when I can. I am nervous and excited to get it done!!!!

Mary,
You're going to be fine. You will sleep well and it will be over when you wake up. The soreness of the incision will seem like nothing with what you've been through. You'll be feeling much better in a matter of days.
We're praying for you.
Pat

I remember that feeling well!
Look forward to a sleep and being free of the beasts within.
I pray they are as nice as the team I had.
Deep breaths and try to stay relaxed.
Remember how long you've been waiting for this 🍀
