Advice/support/experiences please-ovarian cysts?
Posted , 12 users are following.
I have cysts on both sides. left hand side about 11cm, right hand side 10cm.
I am being sent for an "urgent" MRI in 7 days. Rather worried how I will stay still for a whole hour all by myself in the MRI? Any tips please?
Then I go back to the consultant the week after to see if they are cysts or cancerous and how we will treat them.
I am having dizzy spells where I feel that the world is turning to the right. Constant back pain that feels like something is pressing on my back which makes me feel like I need to go poo.. Gassiness. I can feel the cysts as painful lumps from the front too. My stomach is hard and stretched.
I'm feeling very tired from the discomfort and worry.
My appetite is still pretty normal.
Sex is a little painful in certain positions as my tummy is tender and I can't fold up my body properly. I'm not able to move as easily.
They have been "watching" the cysts for 2 years now and have seen them grow from 5cm to 7cm to 11cm. Only now are they doing something about it.
My Ca125 test was 31 six months ago, it is now 37.
I'm very anxious and on edge.
I have no idea what the 'cysts' are made of though my last report said they have a "mild vascularity".
Also, I am diabetic and I have PCOS.
Any advice or support ladies? I need it to get through this uncertain time.

Thank you so much for thinking of me!
We got (mostly) good news today!
The cysts aren't cancerous and are expected to be cystadenomas. They are big now!! There's four now, and the biggest measures 17cm! That's a 7cm growth in 4 weeks for the biggest one. They said they are too big for keyhole surgery and I will need to have a cesarean (which I had before so not worried about that and glad to get the darn things out!). They gave me this news, then sent me down to pre surgical assessment and that's when things got screwy as that department sent me back to the consultant saying they couldn't do a pre surgical assessment until I have a date for surgery. The consultant spoke to "the schedulers" (these must be the people in the God position in the hospital??) and apparently I could be waiting several months for surgery. So the end result of the visit was "don't call us, we'll call you".
But at least I don't have cancer!! Meanwhile all they could say was if the cysts at this size twist or whatever I'd be in agony so to take it easy until I get my date through. Worried about how big they will get in the meantime!! But very glad not to have had worse news. Tired!!

Oh wow!!! They are whoppers and now you have 4!!! At least you know they arent Cancerous,I'm delighted and relieved for you.
I'm sure due to their size etc that your surgery will be soonish. They must know how much discomfort you're in.How is there room for all that.
Maybe you will sleep easier now and relax
I've been wondering how you got on so many thanks for letting me know.
Get planning that room to relax in after surgery
Take care x

I didn't really notice earlier as I guess my mind was focused on NOT having cancer and how they'd treat my cysts, but the MRI also states I have adenomyosis. This is the first I have ever heard of this...does anyone else have it or have any info about it? I wonder why the doctor didnt even mention it.

I am feeling really rough as I keep throwing up.
What happens is I wake up suddenly in the night and get up to rush to the bathroom my mouth watering... last night I actually threw up but a couple of times I've rushed into the bathroom sat on the loo and the sickness feeling has eased off. I have this horrible burning feeling in my stomach which I think may be heartburn but I'm worried this may be to do with the cysts?
When I asked the consultant about nausea they say it is about fear and anxiety not to do with the cysts directly. I don't want to waste time going to A&E if they are just gonna send me home, but I'm everso uncomfortable.

As you've started taking all those extra supplements I would think it's to do with them.A friend couldn't take magnesium as they made her wake up during the night vomiting. Google the side effects of everything you are now taking.
And I do find that my Cyst does make me nauseous sometimes.
Hope that helps,bless you x

I am only taking the b complex and milk thistle. I thought i would try and get my zibc and magnesium from mt food. I feel less uncomfortable on my stomach. I have stopped meat and eating fish and veges soup and fruits, gluten free, no sugar, I am almost gone organic. I learned about indian barley soup on you tube. I made some today but had to add some sea salt to be able to have more. I am supposed to stopped adding salt as I have high Bp.
Search the side effect of your supplement. I thought supplement are more natural without side effect. My b complex said no side effect. I have been having them for 3-4 days and no side effects.
It could be something you ate? If it's continues discuss with your doctor.

Hi maryvee sorry only coming back to you now. I have been away. Firstly I had horrendous nausea and throwing up for a year on and off. I would wake at 4am every morning and feel sick and the dry wretching would start within an hour and then vomiting. I couldn't eat a thing until the late afternoon and then it would ease off but I would still have nausea and awful heartburn too. I was taking lots of stuff and kept thinking it was something I was taking making me feel sick so I stopped everything and I still felt sick. As I said before the second gynaecologist I went to see told me it was from the cyst as he said they can twist which can cause these symptoms but they also affect your hormones he said. What exactly are you taking? Are you taking b complex on its own and b6 as well it just b6? What strength are you taking? I only have my
Small bowel as I had my
Large bowel removed when I was 22 and find it hard to tolerate a lot things but the b complex I can tolerate no problems but just get bright coloured pee! Magnesium pills can cause diarrhea in high doses. I use magnesium oil. Zinc can cause stomach upset so it could be that. Stop that and magnesium and see if your symptoms improve. Is this only
Since you started the supplements? Pumpkin seeds are high in zinc and I grind them into powder and add them to my breakfast cereal of organic buckwheat flakes with organic cashew nuts and walnuts and strawberries and blueberries. I will send you a private message about the clinic I went too as they block it everything I try to mention it which is fine. B complex will give you more energy, help you sleep better, is good for your hair, skin and nails and most importantly will help balance your hormones. You've got a very big cyst too so it's definitely putting pressure on your other organs causing you side effects. Xx

Thank you for responding so fast. I think I will stop the magnesium and see if that helps. I've managed to eat a quarter of a sandwich this afternoon so the nausea is improving since this morning.

Glad to hear your a little improved. Give it time and I believe you will feel a lot better. Sorry I didn't get back to you about the adrenals. I was on steroids for 3 years and I stopped producing a hormone in my adrenal gland which I think caused all my problems. Is your cyst on your adrenal glands or your kidneys? I have 6 cysts on my liver too which I believe are from all the steroids and hormone drugs. I don't drink or smoke either. I'm very thin and always have been and was on a low fat diet for years which wouldn't have helped me at all but like most of us we don't realise the impact on our bodies. Low fat diets can contribute to hormonal issues too as we need good fats to make cholesterol which helps make the hormones. I've had low cholesterol for years! Is you b complex 50mg or 100mg? Xx

I got the b 50 with the range of B vitamins in them, I have taken one with the evening meal, one magnesium tablet too and that's it. I will stop the magnesium as you suggest, I was thinking that one anyway. I do have vibrant yellow pee from the B vits!
I have had nausea for the past few weeks really but this morning was the worst for actually throwing up.

Stop the magnesium and see does it stop. You can get magnesium from spinach, nuts (almonds in particular are great as good for hormones) bananas, avocados and dark chocolate. Also I was advised to take b complex in the morning time too. Magnesium is best taken on its own in the evening with dinner. It may have interacted with the b complex. The other thing is to try and eat some protein at every meal as we need it to help with hormones. I eat almond and coconut butter on toast after my cereal and try to eat hummus a few times a week for lunch with half an avocado, spinach, scallions and tomatoes. I also try to eat organic eggs 2-3 times a week with the avocado and spinach for lunch too. They recommended chickpeas and other beans as an alternative to meat for lunch and also adding spilt red lentils to stews, curries and pasta sauces. I also eat 10-15 almonds in the afternoon for a snack instead of tea and biscuits! I do have 70% dark chocolate most evenings too. It's been a total change of diet for me but I feel much better and healthier too. I'll still have the odd bag of crisps if I fancy one but the funny thing is I haven't eaten sweets or biscuits for months. I felt the effects of the b complex within a few weeks but did have to stop if for the saliva test and I felt the symptoms coming back but am on it again and feel much better! Let us know how you are off the magnesium. Xx

Sorry for the late reply , I am taking Go B complex Maximum Potency . Its made local hear in NZ. It doesnt say 50mg or 100mg but it detailed the mg on every B1-B12 and direction for taking.
According to my ultra sound I have a small cyst sitting on one of my adrenal gland. My GP said it is not significant but My gynaecology thinks I should get it check with a Kidney specialist as it might be the reason why I have high blood pressure? Did you have or do you have hight blood pressure?
Update on my health, I am starting my period today, I have slight lower back pain that come and go. It is usually heavy on my second day. I am water fasting today just to help with decreasing the cysts as other ladies had cysts totally healed with long days fasting. I am only starting with one day and see how I go. Overall my pain is not as worst as before and my bowl is opening every other day large which is far better than before. I am still eating organic and no meat only fish and other legumes soup.
If you dont mind sharing if you had high Bp.
Best wishes

Hi siulolo
Had a look at the b complex your taking and they are High potency so should help you! I'm not a doctor but I suspect the cyst on your adrenal glands could be part of your hormonal problems as the adrenal glands play a huge part in our overall wellbeing in conjunction with our liver. Have you ever had your cortisol levels checked at all or any of your adrenal hormones? High cortisol can cause high blood pressure. The adrenals can become stressed quite easily due to certain medications and nutritional deficiencies causing an imbalance and b complex is vital for adrenal and hormone health. I believe the steroids and hormone meds I took depleted my stores and I never recovered causing my body to be in a state of stress. The milk thistle will help your liver clear any excess toxins (estrogen) and the b complex should help restore hormone balance to your body. I've read of people's progesterone levels increasing from a very low point to above normal within a month of taking high strength b complex. Also you would need to see an endocrinologist about the cyst on your adrenals in my opinion as they are the experts in the adrenal glands. I have multiple cysts on my liver and spleen but they don't seem to be concerned about them. I usually have low blood pressure. If you haven't had your adrenal hormones checked I would get your doc to check them including cortisol, testosterone, progesterone, estrogen and dhea and thyroid too. Xx

Hi AceJohnson
This is awesome information. The last time I asked my GP for blood test he refused and said to leave it to him and let him do his job. I find him reluctant to do blood test that I request . I might have to save money and pay for it myself. I asked him for a potassium blood test in 5 weeks time after taking my new Bp medication candestar which will likely to increase my potassium level . He declined and post me a lab tests for lipid and sugar test? He said the cysts on my adrenal gland isn't significant.
I am having difficulty finding a GP who will listen to me...
I will look into the endocologist.
Many thanks for sharing
All the best

Hi AceJohnson
Unfortunately I haven't check my adrenal hormone . I am still taking my b complex and just stop milk thistle today according to pharmacist as it might affect sedative on my surgery on 10.8 next Wednesday. My pain has decreased in the past few months to mild except constipation was not as good as I expected maybe cause I decided to have probiotic gluten free yoghurt which I am guessing the reason for my unexpected constipation. However it isn't worst as before. I am believing that dairy food increase my constipation.
I am due for a total hysterectomy, resection over my bowl due to obstruction from the cyst and one ovary will be gone according to gynae and bowel surgeon. They will try and save one ovary so i can have some natural hormone as i requested due to my high blood pressure. I have also been praying and asking God to take control of my health situation as he knows what is best . I have surrender my case to him to take control as the bible promise that all things work out for good of these who trust in him. I am expecting a miracle too as he is a miracle God.
I will keep you update after next week. Thanks for your advised
Take care
