Advice to guys going through this

I just wanted to post this so, perhaps, somebody else won't repeat my mistakes. Being sick with mono was my first experience of being extremely sick and unable to do anything for almost a year(I'm 21). Knowing that we live in an era of internet porn, most of the guys, including me, watch it at least few times of the week for sure. But because I was extremely depressed and literally couldn't do anything, not even watch movies, I started masturbating heavily. Like 3 times a day for at least half a year. After about 3 or 4 months of doing that, as well as sitting/lying in bed all the time and not moving I've developed pelvic floor problems and symptoms of prostatitis. So now I'm recovered from mono, but have to deal with this. So, my point is don't over indulge in porn if you are going through this, I know how easy it is to get over addicted to it in this circumstances. Don't do it more than once a day, and make sure to make small walks around the house, or lie in bed, but don't seat all day long because it's sure to f**k up your pelvic floor.

I even had thoughts that this is wrong, but it was always overshadow by thoughts like "whatever, you won't recover from mono anyway, so it doesn't make difference". You will recover from mono. Do your best to minimize the damage to your body while you are recovering.

      Hello brent

Well, its still pretty hard, I started to rest a lot and I think im better than month ago. Im still struggling though, all my friends are invincible, they dont need to sleep and can do whatever they like and im like an old man. If i dont push however, I dont feel so bad.

      What about you?

I am still struggling also. I am contemplating some major life changes. I work a lot of hours at a job I have been at for 22 years. I may cash out and take a rest for a while. I really hate to but The long hours are taking a toll on my body. I still don’t sleep well and have body aches. I am sorta lost on what to do anymore.

      Hi Brent,

That is amazing you've been able to manage working let alone working long hours when feeling this way - you have shown great courage to keep going like that for sure I don't think I could have done that at all. Definitely that sounds like it could be a positive change to take the stress and pressure of that off you, it's hard to change after so long I know that for sure having been in a job for a long time too and also facing change right and losing that right now which is very scary and frightening for me as someone who likes routine and stability.

I still believe you are going to get fully better Brent, I just really hope and pray this can come soon and God can have mercy and bring peace and recovery. You've been through such a hard time and He knows what you've been going through Brent, for you to keep working through is a great achievement but please do even if you can cut hours down or give yourself more time to rest too that's really important - it might make all the difference in the speed of your recovery!

I know what you mean when you feel lost about what to do having feel like you've tried everything. In those moments we just need to turn to God and ask for His intervention to guide us safely through and show us how to cope and what to do next. Hang in there Brent, still rooting for you and truly believing you're going to get FULLY better even though it's been a while I 100% believe that.

    Hi Catch the Bus,

Want you to know that I empathise as have been going through prostatitis myself for a number of months. It is not a nice thing at all and seems to be really tricky to get on top of. Don't beat yourself up though it can just happen it isn't necessarily caused by what you say. It's not easy to cope when going through mono so just remember it's tough to go through this and hang in there things will get better.
