Attending for an Orthopaedic meeting and Pre Assessment for TKR on my left knee. Any questions I should be asking which are relevant to the procedure and recovery. Have noticed you all refer to ice on your knee afterwards. is this cubes of ice in a plastic bag or what as want to be prepared for later.   Thanks.

    Hi Supertractorman

I found the best method for using the ice bags is put them into a Zip lock food bag .then put that into an old pillow case ..great ice pack

    Good luck

Hi there. I got ice packs in the medical store. Probably available from pharmacies? Just freeze the ice packs and use as required. I bought an elevated toilet seat with built in bidet for the initial period of recover at home. Wishing you well with your procedure. ☺☺

I was sent home with 4, I can only describe as small sheets with like pockets filled with water, just shove them in the freezer. You use 2 at a time, they slip into a soft holder. They fit from top of shin to thigh right around and fasten with Velcro. They're a godsend. Good luck 😁

Thanks all for replies most appreciated. Chico enjoyed your informative note, which was ideal.   Would I be right in presuming that shorts or short pyjamas are best for a while as I presume bandages are thick ?

Yes, I wore shortie pyjamas and wore shorts going home. It's not thick bandages, it's like a massive sticky plaster. It's the swelling that's big. Just wear shorts or joggers
