Hi my name is gemma and I'm 29,
I have been suffering for the past 18 months with very heavy and prolonged periods lasting 8 weeks or more, discomfort in my pelvis, loss of appetite and getting full really quickly, tiredness and generally just feeling unwell. I went for an external and internal ultrasound on Tuesday on Wednesday my doctor rang to say I have a 5/6 centimetre cyst on my left overy but it has been split into 2 separate with a gap between he also informed me that from my scan picture's my left overy is not viable and that he can't find it. Has anyone else experiacnced this please? As now I'm just playing the waiting game for my referral. Thanks x

Hi Gemma
I had a TV ultra sound scan on Thursday which has showed a Ecton of cysts on left ovary largest being 9.5 x 8.5 cm and on the right side possibly in my fallopian tube there is an 8.5 X 8cm and evidence of a haemorrhage. My CA 125 level was slightly high, this all happened over Christmas with pain in pelvis, needing to wee urgently. My GP received the scan report back the same day and I have been referred for a 2week wait rapid access gynaecology appointment. I am really anxious about it all and hardly sleeping with worry.
I suppose worst case scenario it is cancer, I think if I was offered I would go for a full hysterectomy as I do not want any more children. I*am 35 and my husband has had a vasectomy so hopefully they will let me. I don't want to have to have multiple operations if the histology shows up anything.
I have always suffered with heavy and painful periods and for 8 years lower back pain, I have this now and I just know that it is all linked.
Keep me posted how things go for you. It is good to know that these forums are here.
Xx

hi gemma,
i think your cyst is called a septated cyst, have you been offered any blood tests? my cyst was/is different, it was described as more complex, solid and liquid and measured 48 mm. i'm 32 and my ca125 was normal at 17 and even though i didn't fulfil the fast track criteria, my gp urgently referred me anyway due to my high anxiety. I saw a gynaecologist / oncologist in mid Dec and she measured my cyst 38 mm. I'm back for another appointment this friday after a course of antibiotics.
I can totally relate, waiting around is very hard when you don't know what's going on.
nicola - please don't pay much attention to the ca125 blood test, it is VERY unreliable as a diagnostic tool and actually, should not be used as a diagnostic tool at all. it can rise for all sorts of benign conditions, endometriosis, infections ect... so if you get a high result it may not mean anything, same for a normal result. the odds are definitely on your side as the chance of it being cancer is low, even with complex or large cysts.
it's easier said than done, but try not to worry. best of luck with your appointment!
