AF meds and extreme itching

My OH was diagnosed with AF after being admitted to hospital recently and was put on Bisopropol and Apixaban.

Anyway, after taking them for about 5 weeks he started to develop an extremely itchy rash. Saw the doctor and he switched him from Apixaban to Dabagatran, which actually made it even worse.

So he was then told to stop the Bisopropol as that could be causing the itch and start taking the Apixaban again.

It just got worse and worse and so back he went again and was told to stop taking all of the medications. His CHAD score is 1 but he is 67 years old.

It is now a couple of weeks since he stopped all medications, but the itching is still just as bad and even keeping him awake at night. He has tried various antihistamines and creams but nothing is helping.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and, if so, how was it resolved?
