Afraid, Just diagonaed

I was just diagnosed with HS this morning.....I'm 25 and have had abscesses or cyst like bumps under my arm off and on for years.....I always thought they were just razor bumps, until they got worse and I saw a doctor.

I'm just really afraid.....and I can't find much info regarding my questions and I won't be able to see a specialist until October, but I have an appointment with a surgeon this upcoming  week.

Does HS worsen as you age?

Will my flare ups become  worse and more severe?

Are the 3 stages of HS if gone untreated or the progression as you age?

Does anyone have major issues with mobility, and/or does anyone have a service dog?

I'm finishing my PhD and starting veterinary medical school next year, so I'm heartbroken and terrified what this means for my career and quality of life.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but the bright side is that you can now be treated. This is a wonderful blog and site with lots of information about HS. There are people here just like you and I am sure others will share their ideas with you. Best wishes for you.

I think it's different for everyone. I went untreated and undiagnosed for years and it worsened. I was almost immobile. Once I saw the correct doctor and was properly treated things have improved. Get on it. If you need I can give you doctor's name.
