After Bunion surgery

I've had a bunion surgery a year ago and recently I get horrible nerve pain in foot by my third toe. My foot is swollen and I can not walk with out shoes because it feels like something poking the bottom of foot. Any suggestions?

    Hi Sue

Sounds like a Mortons Neuroma.  I have these in both feet, luckily they do not hurt only if I wear tight shoes, only one makes the toes feel a bit numb.  I seem to remember initially it felt like I had rugged up my sock.  When I had my bunions done end of 2015 we decided to leave the neuromas as they did not hurt and if removed can leave numbness anyway.  I am not sure what caused them in the first place as I do not wear pointed or high heels shoes.  The only way to be sure is to ask a specialist who may be able to feel the neuromas click or by ultrasound, they do not shoe on an x-ray.  There is quite a bit of information across the internet about these.
