After gallbladder surgery

Hi I had surgery to removed my gallbladder a month and two weeks ago and since then I've not been feeling myself anymore. I know I need to give it time for my body to heal but I've been through so many symptoms post surgery that I don't know if they Is any hope to ever feel better again. Started with awful diarrhea, then gastritis and now acid reflux. I am not eating anything almost because I get indisgestion and heartburn, I am only drinking complan with some milk and sometimes papaya smoothie. I lost all pleasure in eating, I only do it to be able to survive. Is there anyone that has or had been though the same  and is getting/got better..? Please share your story with me. I had a baby three months ago And more than anything else I wish to feel better again to give my baby all the attention she needs.

Hi hun. Sorry you're not feeling great. I had my GB put on may and Haven't felt well at all. Like you ive had acid reflux and i almost feel like my GB hasnt been removed. you know your own body, i persisted with my doc going virtually every week for 2 months until i got referred back to the clinic. Ive now been refered for an endoscopy and an MRI. my advice is persist with your doctor if you don't feel well i was told for 4 months that mine was healing even though i had consistent pain and other symptoms. Good luck, hope you feel better soon xx

I had been referred to a GI specialist by my doc. But I am very scared that this symptoms could be permanent and there is not much he can do. I am already taking pills for the acid reflux but I still have it badly. I did an endoscopy and it was normal. Why do we developed AR after this type of surgery and why we don't improve with the medication? I hope u find out your cause and let us know please. All best.

You need a low fat diet. Milk should be skim. The gas, diahrea is normal and hurt burn. Talk to your doctor. I just had my surgery on the 11. Hang in there.

Did someone talk to you before or after the surgery about symptoms that you might have after surgery? Nobody reall talked with me, because I had a emergency op due to having pancreatitis. The only think I knew was the diarrhea, which slowed down now thank god. What is really worrying me is the constant heartburn. Is it normal, when I am eating a very low fat diet to have heartburn all the time after this procedure? Please I need some reassurance that it is a temporary side effect. What' did the doc said to you Lori? I am going to see a  GI specialist soon

After my galbladder removal I went on a food diet once removed the galbladder cannot break down certain foods.

i ate no fried greasy foods the worst. Sugar on a empty stomach always drink something . Could not eat out. And ate lots of yogurt to balance the good bacteria in my gut. That's is the trick. I thinks u may need to decide what foods cause u problems. Eat lots of roughage and within in months mine calmed down.

    Good Luck

I've been eating probiotic yogurts and I also been  taking probiotic supplements because I thought it is good  for the digestive system. I Only Drink COMPLAN with skimmed milk because at the moment I am not eating anything else so I need all the vitamins and minerals I can get. Doc gave me a PPI for the acid reflux. It improved a bit the first week but now I have horrible heartburn again and feel very down. I wish that this is only a temporary side effect from surgery but I fear if it is not. Thank u for your words.

Hi Lori I still don't eat much and I am still feeling  pain in my chest and sometimes heartburn. I am almost at the end of my course of pills for the heartburn (lasoprazole) and bit worried that  it might not fix this problem. My stomach doesn't feel quite right yet. I had some blood tests taken and I will know next week if something is not right with liver. Are you experiencing similar symptoms? Are they just a  normal side effect from surgery like the reflux and chest pain? I am hoping that is only temporary but I am confused and worried.  Hope you're ok

Sorry you are having a bad time. No I haven't had any of those symptoms. I just hurt where they cut me in four places. I ways already on a acid reflux pills before surgery, I take omprazole 20 mg.

This is when you hope they find something wrong in a test. I got up October 23 in major stomach and back pain. I was lucky and got right in to see my doctor, the drive was horrible. Then they sent me in for my scan and blood test the same day. I just had to wait to see the surgeon. I had my op on the 11, the next day was my birthday, great gift. Let me know what you find out. Take it easy. Walk around slowly. Can you hold down jello?

      Lori
