After Gastric Bypass

hi all, on the 30th of october 2014 i had a gastric bypass since then lost about 9 stones in weight, felt really great untill about a month ago when i got the most painfull chronic pain on the left hand side going down to my back, it last up to 11 hours of hell, i have had this pain now on and off for the last month, but the pain has changed the last two times its happend i got the pain just under my breast bone going down to my belly button, its like cramp stitch wringing out my guts all at once.

my dr thought i had a blocked bowel been on laxatives and no pain killers as im not allowed tablets only the ones that disolve, this pain i get gets really bad so bad im crouched over like a little old man, thought it might be trapped wind bought some grape water to try but its doing nothing at all, when this chronic pain goes it leaves me like ive been kicked by the bull from hell my insides feel like they are brused.

i have managed to get an appointment with my consultant this comming thursday hopefully to get it sorted.

    Hi

weight loss does trigger gallstones to grow..

if you have gallstones they show up on a scan ..

funny I had gallstones undiagnosed for 15 years annual colic attacks agony vomiting felt like gut on fire ribs broken etc... Gp diagnosed , ulcers, food poisoning , constipation etc until one intelligent gp went gallstones .. I had ancient stones lots ..

before you get scanned try cutting all fat I mean all ..have skimmed milk no oil no butter or margarine, no hard to digest foods .. I know with a gastric band you can't eat hard to digest foods anyway.. Cut out caffeine and sugar ..I know pretty bleak.. But all these foods cause the gallbladder to work.. Your gallbladder stores and concentrates bile ..when you eat fat your stomach request extra bile to digest ..the gallbladder contracts sqeezes out the bile and if a stone gets stuck in a duct vomiting agony ..if you have a lot of stones just contracting causes the stones to rub together and make your gallbladder inflamed and sore...

So if you try the bland boring no fat diet ... Your gallbladder doesn't contract ..it heals your pain goes off ..

But who wants to eat like that forever .. So get scanned and then if it is gallstones removed ...

    Hope that helps

      Hi Sally,

people keep saying to me that the pain im getting doesant sound like gallstones as when i got this pain it seemed to come from my left side going down to the flank of my tummy going into my back, but the last few times i have had this pain it was in the centre of my chest below the breast bone then going into my back, its that bad i can hardly walk it puts me on the floor, ive tried to get on all fours and rock back and fourth like somebody said it might help also to rest my legs on the bed with my body on the floor nothing works, im only allowed liquid parasitimol which is crap for pain.

thursday can not come fast enough for me im just hoping i can get a scan im going to demand some strong pain killers, i was thinking it could be a hernia or maybe something to do with my gastric bypass, ive notticed when i eat or drink it sounds like foor or fluid his going down a drain lol.

ive also notticed i tend to wee alot while in pain and its clear not orange like nomal, any way thanks for getting back to me i thought i would share my pain with all on here and thought i would get better feed back then three replys, what worries me if they don't find anything on there scans ?? what happens then as i can not live like this i don't seem to go through a week with out having chronic pain that puts me out for 11 hours solid.

      Thanks in advance

      Hi

sounds awful... Seeing your specialist will I am sure solve your problem. My sister in law has a gastric band and she has had infections that have caused pain and gurgling noises ... But not as painful as yours ..they emptied her band for a while for it to heal and gave her antibiotics ...then refilled it later ..not sure if your gastric bypass is similar...

hope you get it sorted soon ...lets us know ..
