Have you considered electrotherapy instead of going for surgery again? I had a treatment done a couple of weeks ago and my haemorrhoids are now completely gone. Hopefully they'll never come back!

Hi Matt,
Can you please tell more about this procedure. I am considering this to fix mine. Is there anyone else here who had electrotherapy? Is it painful. Do the hems shrink completely?
Any info would be great.
Thanks

Are you in the UK? It's a relatively new treatment, the nurse uses a gentle electrical current that sits at the base of the haemorrhoid which essentially cauterises the vein to causing it to shrink. The haemrrhoids shrink during procedure and continue after. i tried creams, banding and didn't want to go ahead with surgery as I'm self employed and would be off work for months. Not many people have heard of electrotherapy including my GP but it worked wonders for me and there was no pain, just a slight bit of discomfort when they insert the tube. i just didn't want to go ahead with surgery so this seemed like the perfect option and i was able to go return to daily activities on the same day. I was with the nurse for 30 minutes in total.

Hi there,
I've just replied to meaghan above. My haemorrhoids have completely shrunk after one treatment. I had two grade 2 haemorrhoids which bled alot and caused a lot of issues when having a BM. I had my treatment done in clinic by a nurse (lasting about 30 minutes) but you can also have the treatment done in your own home which is convenient. I didn't have any pain just a slight bit of discomfort when the nurse inserted the tube. I paid privately for this treatment but I'm so glad i did as I just couldn't bare the thought of having surgery. I'd be happy to share who I went to have this treatment if that helps?

It seems neverending, i only had 2 banding's in June but seemingly didn't feel somewhat normal until mid August. I still have "that" swelling feeling after going to the Lu. It sucks. Like we're all doomed to ass issues for life. And ive done everything to a T. Water, fiber , not straining, or spending too much time on the toilet, eating like a rabbit, and yet still not feeling like normal. its very frustrating....your not alone

Sorry to hear this. Are you sure its a haemorrhoid? It could be a skin tag from the surgery which looks like a haemorrhoid? Perhaps get it checked out by your GP..
