After MVD

I am so sorry to hear it did not work for you. I was told gamma knife should be done first because after MVD it is not successful. They told me the gamma knife would not work for me. I had a vein spiraled around the nerve and it had to be cut. I am going to just go day by day and make the best of my life. The pain and double vision is gone. Best luck to you. Kathy

    Kathy,

3 surgeons i consulted prior to my MVD last year told me the opposite.  They told me that once you do the Gamma Knife procedure, the MVD would not be as successful.  I confirmed this with some online research as well. They aren't able to explain exactly why, but it seems ( best guess) to be that the Laser in Gamma possibly causes some scarring and hardening from burning the nerve and once that happens it becomes difficult for them to surgically move the nerve during MVD to be able to insert the Teflon between it and the offending artery / blood vessel.

Well they told me it would work and I pray it will.  Thank you  for wishing me luck.
